Hi
Hope some one can help me i have bought an ex highways agency discovery which has a fixed tow bar fitted. After having all the bumpers and arches colour coded i wanted to remove the tow bar. Thats where the problem comes i don,t have the key have checked inside every where but can not find a key. Is it possible to remove the said item without the key or will it be an expensive trip to the dealers.
Thanks
Rodstir

Mine came off without a key. In fact nowhere to use a key.
Remove small bolt from the face which locks the bolt pin and then use it in the hole which is 90 degrees to it on the adjacent face of the casting to wind out the bolt pin. The assembly should then drop assuming the side bars are off.
EDIT. Should add mine was a WITTER, not genuine LR

Ahhhhhh, still not advisable to publicise on how to remove a secure towbar on an open forum, especially when alot of stolen ones end up on ebay.
Off out to take mine off now , with the keys

Not exactly a secret on the fixed one. I got the exploded diagram from the towsure website I think. Removeable one I would agree - which is why mine is not left on the car.

The LR fixed one still has a key, you obviously bought a less secure product
At least it will only be the Witter ones that you have helped people to nick I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Ah nay worries. realistically, no towbar is secure if only held on with bolts - as I found to my cost on one of my Jags At least LR have the decency to put a lock on theirs.
Oh, and I removed the witter in favour of an EBAY genuine LR removeable one. Erm, just hope it's not pinched. Ahem !!
