Towing using Weight Distributing hitch ?

Currently I have a twin axle 2,300kg (ish) caravan with a ball weight of about 230-250kg on the heavy duty towbar, which is rated to 3500kg and 350kg ball weight. And I must say it tows without an issue on the back of the Disco.

Now the question is that I've read that regardless of the air suspension I should be using a weight distributing hitch to keep the car ride level and take some of the 'strain' off the air suspension.

My thoughts are that it copes with it just fine as is, BUT if this is going to damage or shorten the life of the suspension then I maybe should change.

Any thoughts, anyone using a weight distribution hitch ??

Thanks,
 Brian

Brian,

The purpose of the WDH is to transfer some of the weight placed on the rear wheels of the towing vehicle to the front wheels of the vehicle and the axles of the 'van in order to re-establish a good balance over the whole rig. While the Disco has self levelling suspension, it does not re-distribute weight like a Hayman Reece set-up.However there seems to be an issue with the Hayman Reece Hitch interfering with the Land Rover supplied removeable tow bar which may lead to an unexpected result. Until this has been resolved, if ever, then I intend to tow without a WDH.

Afterall Retiredbob is happy with his set-up and there are other posters on this forum who are quite happy with the Disco as it is.
