Took our new caravan away at the weekend and everything was great, however when the 'van was connected to the D3 the trailer light on the dash did not illuminate when starting or when the turn indicators were operated, also the rear parking sensors still sounded when reversing and had to be muted on the dash.
The auto electrician has fitted a diode in circuit when installing the brake controller and has also done a wiring mod at the rear fuse box to overcome the flashing LED problem.
Can anyone tell me what specific circuit the D3 recognises to activate the trailer indicator and also exactly what parameters the D3 modifies when it recognises a trailer being attached, then I can talk to the auto electrician in case any changes need to be made 2007 Zermatt Silver Td6 SE, ARB Front Bar & Safari Snorkel, Mitchell Bros Hitch, FrontRunner Roof Rack, Traxide Dual Battery Kit

firstly why is a diode fitted. LR's own diags do not show a diode fitted although for some reason it is believed to be the approved method.
On a vehicle fitted with a correctly installed, Land Rover approved trailer socket, if an electrical load is sensed on the trailer socket, height changes are prohibited automatically but can be manually selected and the rear sensors are disabled.

Firstly the Towbar electris need turning on by T4 so the pdc doesnt work when connected the diode should just dtop the LED trailer lights flashing as disco 3 is not led compatible

not on Oz vehicles. trailer wiring is standard so should already be on. if the trailer has led lights then you could put a resistive load in the lighting cct. it is not clear wether the diode is for the supposed back feed from the brake controller cct or for led lights and which/where it was installed. in the past people put them in the brake controller cct (trailer electric brakes).

Sorry if there was any confusion, the diode is indeed fitted in the brake controller circuit to prevent feedback to the CJB as recommended in posts here and in the AULRO D3 forum.
The auto electrician fitted a dummy load of sorts in the indicator wiring to overcome the LED problem, he rechecked the circuit today and verified that with that load disconnected (ie original circuit)and a trailer plugged in that the trailer indicator on the dash functioned so it is obviously activated by the indicator circuit. So it would appear that my options are to have that load in the circuit and no trailer indication or revert back to the original wiring and put the load else where.. but where! 2007 Zermatt Silver Td6 SE, ARB Front Bar & Safari Snorkel, Mitchell Bros Hitch, FrontRunner Roof Rack, Traxide Dual Battery Kit

If you have LED lights on your trailer, LABTRONX in NSW have a shunt that is well regarded.

Hi Nico,
No photos, unfortunately, but the most common place to fit the brake controller is in front of the drivers left knee (this allows you to see the display through the steering wheel). Alternative locations are in the 'tray" underneath the "cigar lighter" or on the dash to the right of the instrument binnacle.
There is no reason for the fitting of a brake controller to void warranty (unless it could be demonstrated that the fitment CAUSED the warranty fault). To be on the safe side, I used an auto electrician to fit mine, but gave him a write-up from AULRO as he hadn't fitted one to a D3 before.

Tx - but could you please forward the doc to me please
n v d i e m e n @ l a w .co .za
These type of brakes and thus control units are not found normally in SA - I have USA trailer
Nobody at LR want to say if it will void warraty or not or no dealer wants to fit ....
I was thinking of fitting to the left of dials on top of dash .... any comment
