Is this Trailer electrics loom ruined?

After mentioning that I needed to install trailer electrics to my Discovery 3, I was given this (for free) and told that some of the plugs had been cut off it.

The loom on one side of the grommet looks like it is intact, but on the other side (shown in the final picture) it looks as if five plugs have, for some reason, been cut off.

Is it something that I can easily make usable by buying the plugs (if so, how would I source them), or should I just buy a new one?

Hardly worth it when a non-cut one is £35:

Bear in mind you also need the second part, the part with the actual trailer socket(s) on.

Looks to me like the plugs beyond the grommet is where it plugs into the LR Loom behind the rear passenger side. The fuse box goes behind the rear passenger side where the tow hitch is usually stored. The other ends (from the grommet onwards) are the wiring for the two 7 pin plugs that you connect you trailer/caravan to. In which case, all you need to do is add the plugs ensuring the correct wires go to the correct plugs.

So how does it work then? Does the loom come in two parts? So if I bought the ebay item you've linked to, would I also have to get something else? And if so, are there any kits that include both parts? I want a 13 pin plug.

Yes, there are two parts to the genuine LR wiring kit.

The section you have (and I have linked to), plus another section with the actual tow sockets on.

You can buy a complete new aftermarket wiring kit for £70-£80.

It is probably becoming obvious I don't know much about this....
If the bits that have been cut off are actually the two trailer plugs (which I assume it would be easy to source), and there are 5 different cables that have been cut, what would I do with the other three cut ends?

I linked to a full intact loom, and mentioned there is another loom missing.

You can see from the in tact loom that the trailer sockets don't fit on this loom.

Does this item (£84) have everything I would need?

Just be aware that if towing a trailer with LED lights the electronics in the Disco 3 are not set up to recognise it (not enough resistance from the lights) so you'll either need to fit resistors to the trailer or if towing different trailers on a regular basis invest in one of these

https://eco-trailer.co.uk/product/smart-lo...n-plug-in/

And you don't need to take the rear bumper off to fit the electrics (despite what it says in the instructions), max of an hour even if you've not done it before ! Enjoy!

Ok, thanks for that.

At the moment, I'm not sure what trailer I will have, as it is likely to come with the second hand boat I am trying to buy.

I'm setting up the car to be ready to bring the boat back home after I've bought it.

Urgent. Sunday am, 2 October.

I've just come all the way to Croydon (From West Mids) to pick up a boat, and realised that I've left the key to my detachable Disco3 tow bar at home!

Does anyone know of anything I can do that won't necessitate doing another round trip?
