Trailer lights Issue - Advice please! |
|
Ifor Williams trailer connected and no side lights, internal light or one rear light working on the trailer.
Connected to another D3 and all fine !
All trailer lights work on other D3 so issue is obviously with mine - any suggestions?
Thanks

Checked Fuses and one knackered! I'll replace in the morning and keep fingers crossed.
That piece of advice might have saved me some big bucks!
The beauty of this forum.
Many thanks MrH.

also check to see if any of the lights on the trailer are "pulsating" which would indicate a poor earth on one light fitting.....
had this two months ago when trigger went in to crawler mode on the motorway, tracked it down to a corroded pin in the rear light cluster push-in fitting (used by Ifor & Brian James).

I too have an Ifor Williams trailer and had wiring issues with my Disco3
It's important with these trailers that the 7 pin plug and curly susie is in good condition.
When I bought mine it had been dangled up the road.
Replaced with a genuine Ifor Williams one for only a few pounds
Secondly, make sure that yer 7 pin socket and wiring fitted to the Disco3 is the correct genuine LR one
When I got this Disco3 it had been fitted with an aftermarket el cheapo crappy kit
This caused all sorts of problems especially when I wanted to tow the caravan with the 12n + 12s set up
A genuine LR kit not only sorted all this out but also keeps the suspension 'on the level' when towing
So good wiring on yer trailer and LR towing kit is the way to go Cheers, Dave in Essex

What is most annoying is when I rang up my local Indy and explained the problem I thought he might have mentioned checking the fuse first before bringing it in.
Presume the £'s signs flagged up for him. This is a guy who is consistently busy which suggests he has a good reputation locally.
Its proved 2 things - how invaluable this forum is and secondly check the obvious things first before booking into a garage!

A good Disc driver always carries a spare set of fuses It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Has any one got answer to this?
We have a month old Brian James Cargo that flickers the indicators on my discovery3 and an old Ifor Williams converted to LED lights that also does the same on a discovery4
Both these trailers are towed by other vehicles new and old including a 2011 Range Rover with no problems
Any suggestions? Discovery 3 HSE 07
