Transfer oil and rear and front axle oil

Hi
Need your help .
What types of oils do you put into the transfer and the front and back differentia/axle?
I was advised to put in the transfer Ravenol TF-0870 but realized that they were replaced with the Ravenol DTF-1. is it true?
I understand that there is a difference in the axles. 75w90 for the front axle and for the rear with electric lock is Castrol BOT720? Is it right?
How do I know if I have normal rear axle or the on with the electronic lock?
Discovery 4 GS TDV6 2.7 2011
Thanks

Another question: Do you accurately insert the quantity listed in the specification or fill it with oil until it exits through the filling hole/plug?

The rear locking diff uses Castrol 75w 140, if you get under the vehicle you will see the actuator attached to the diff to confirm if it is the locking type. The non locking is 75/90 (Ravenol TYK500010), the transfer case is TF-0870 (Ravenol IYK500010)

Here's a link to an image of the diff lock actuator:

https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/424...over_sport

On the rear diff you will be able to fully drain it and so you should refill with the specified amount, (it is not " fill until spill")
The front diff has a side mounted drain plug and so it will not drain fully as there will be a small amount remaining below the level of the plug. You may be able to suck out the last of it with suitable pump. Or, open the filler plug and with a cloth held near to the drain plug, a blast of compressed air through the filler plug hole should force out most or all remaining oil. If the old oil comes out clean I would not bother trying to evacuate the last remaining drop as it is quite small really!
Again refill with manufacturer specified amount.

Hi PROFSR G. Thanks for your answer.
Is any 75w140 will do? Is this brand good?
Valvoline 773636 Automotive for "75w140 synthetic.

Do you know about the oil that replace TF 0870? RAVENOL Transfer Fluid DTF-1 On Ravenol site it written that :
RAVENOL Transfer Fluid DTF-1
SPECIFICATIONS ATF TF-0870
FABRICATIONFULLY SYNTHETIC
RECOMMENDATIONS
LAND ROVER IYK500010, ATF TF-0753

I have only used Castrol 75/90 - 75/140 for the diffs, and Ravenol TYK50010 for the transfer case.

I am not aware of a superseding product!

Tip if you've never done it before..
Make sure you locate the correct fill and drain plugs. There are other bolts on the casings that you do not want to loosen unnecesaairly.
Also, undo the fill plug first. The reason being that if you drain it, then cannot get the fill plug out, you're in trouble.

Indeed they are, and IYK500010 is the Ravenol number for that oil spec.

There is a bit of confusion with the numbers but essentially it seems TF-870 and TF-0753 are the same spec. One perhaps superseding the other, but Ravenol TF-0870 is the right product for D3/4 transfer box.

Or Rock Oil https://www.lrparts.net/iyk500010-trasnsfe...-0870.html

I have used Rock Oil and Ravenol in D3/4 transfer cases and transmissions over many years without issue Thumbs Up
