Recently had "transmission fault - reduced traction" warning come on and shortly afterwards, in low range, the whole "Stop vehicle safely" with bells and bongs going. Manual states that that this indicates a faulty transfer box. Vehicle seemed ok in high range, but in low range all the warnings came on a couple of times.
On return from the trip I took vehicle to the dealer who could not find anything wrong and had re-set all the fault warnings. I'm not too happy as recently I have noticed the following : vibration when at idle and in D - disappears when N is selected, a definite whine when traveling at around 100km/h and gently accelerating, quite a lot of play in the drivetrain when vehicle is stopped and P is selected without EPB on, at crawling speed a quick press and release of accelerator results in a faint "clunk".
Are these warning signs of a worn/faulty auto box and/or drivetrain ??
