2 weeks to diagnose a faulty injector?
Could be a faulty low pressure fuel pump, the one that lives in the tank. Or, corroded wiring to the pump in the o/s/f wheelarch My D3 Build Thread

, Happened to me towing the caravan back from Dorset this morning .
HDC fault , suspension lowering , managed to stay at 50mph and came off at the next Junction.
Switched off , re-started and continued the rest of the Journey with no further problems.

UPDATE....
Got the car back on Friday - so it has been 3 weeks but I think it is now fixed.
Problem seems to have been the faulty injector. The diagnostics could not identify which one so I had 3 replaced (a bank apparently).
All seems fine - I hope thats it now 56 Tonga Green HSE.

I had the exact same problem on mine and the local dealer said it was some sort of fuel pressure related problem/code but could not fix it as they tought it was a one off. Interestingly enough the car failed to start completely a short time after (perhaps a month or two) and it had a loose negative battery terminal. Not obviously loose as it sounds but on a very close inspection you could make out marks where it had arc'd across the loose terminal.

I too have had this problem for a while now and my independent cannot find the reason. First you get the HDC fault on the LCD screen and the brake warning light and the DSC warning lights come on together, followed the the stability light a few seconds later and the suspension lowering. It has driven me mad for so long now, but I can say that it does seem to always happen at the point of braking. I have replaced all the relevant bulbs. (Incidentally Halfords do some 4x4 heavy duty bulbs which are less prone to vibration, (supposedly) have the filaments set further apart, and also the filaments have an extra central leg for extra support to prevent filament moving and shorting)
Me and my independent have tried so many things. His autologic system only reports a problem relating to the brake light circuit and the brake light switch, and upon consulting with autologic, they suggested that this would be the very well known bulb issue, but having replaced all these the issue still crops up regularly. There must be a short in the loom somewhere, or maybe the brake switch itself is the problem. Thing is, the brake lights work fine every time, so we didn't consider this to be the cause, but I'm so desperate I have to start checking everything!
Some of you have suggested the multiplugs on the chassis in the wheel arches etc so I'll check those too. The biggest problem being that the fault is intermittent, so it could be minutes or days before you get the fault again, making it difficult to know straight away whether you have solved it! Thanks to you all though for the wealth of knowledge and suggestions. When you're out of warranty like me, you can't just pitch up at the dealers and say "Fix it". My battery is surely ok, only new this year, I just removed and dismantled my brake light switch and found it a little dirty and black where arcing had taken place, so I cleaned it all up with contact cleaner solvent and reassembled. Will run the car for a few days now and see if that has any effect. If so, might be worth replacing it to pemanently solve the issue. D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

I'm with you. I just wanted to clean off the crap first to see if it could have been that causing the problem. It would seem that there are so very many different faults that can cause the same sequence of error lights to show. The switch is very simple indeed inside, and there doesn't appear to be anything physically wrong with it, it was just a bit dirty on the contacts, which could poss have been causing an open circuit between the contacts. If this component is the source of the problem, then cleaning it should have solved it for now. If I don't get any more faults for a while, I will assume it was that and replace the switch permanently. I have gone a good few days now and 2 very long road trips since, without any errors so far.... fingers crossed...
I hope it was something that simple, 'cos there are so many other things it could be. I'll give it another week or two and post the results. D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

It recently came back by the way and much worse - car was really spluttering.
It was recalled for the high pressure fuel pump swap out and this seems to have fixed the problem.
Fingers crossed! 56 Tonga Green HSE.

It's been several weeks now, and haven't had a repeat of the fault since cleaning the brake light switch. Hopefully it was that simple, but it didn't seem simple when I couldn't find the problem. The symptoms could have led to just about anything! Glad I found it with help from the forum as usual. Thanks all. D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)
