Transmission scream

Hi All
A couple of times recently when moving from neutral to drive, when the foot brake is released I get a very loud scream that sounds as if the transmission is trying to tear itself apart. As soon as I move the noise stops. it doesn't happen every time. Anybody heard of this? The car is a 56auto HSE with only 35K. Out of waranty next month. Thanks Steve.

Sounds like the park brake is needing adjustment. If you are relying on the park brake to hold the vehicle before you drive away, then the added strain of holding the car can cause the infamous epb screamer.

Until you get it sorted, release the park brake manually before driving away, or you will knacker the actuator and it will cost £££

Many thanks for that Gareth. If I had first made a proper search of the forum I would have found that i have the infamous 'screamer'. I will follow your advice and release manually until it is fixed. Cheers Steve

Stealers they may be but, Caffyns of Sussex are collecting tomorrow FOC to fix it. Not all bad (a bottle of wine to the driver helps). Steve
