We used to use the ferry but this time around it was extremely expensive, £660 return  that is for the D3 and 5 of us.
When challenged, they said that they charge by the car and persons now...... just the car in the past
£125 return on the Eurotunnel so I plumped for the extra drive and saved myself 500 notes to spend on wine and champagne instead

Hmmm.
You see, I like the convenience of driving to Hull after work (7:30 sailing and only 45 miles away) and waking up the following morning on the other side of the channel AND 200 miles further south!
Just thought someone who does the route regularly may know of a less frustrating route than going through Paris.

We have done that route about 4 or 5 times either heading for Nice/Cannes or the Alps. We have found that the Autoroute between Troyes & Dijon can have 10 or 15 mile static traffic jams from about early lunchtime on Saturdays of holiday weekends (winter skiing or summer sun).
Now I only travel that part of France at night.............
