trip computer range

whats the lowest you've seen on the "range" function. I was down to 2 miles, but a full tank fill only took 81.5 litres, so I should have had 4.5 litres left in the tank (which I know aint much, but good for more than 2 miles)

will it show negative miles?

Some say that once it goes below zero it stays that way and will only ever show negative figures in future; others say that when you get to zero the car will explode.

The only thing I know is that it won't work when it runs out of fuel - though you will be very aware that this is about to happen.....try it, I dare you. Wink

As ever you amaze me with your LR product knowledge mate.

Had mine down to 1 once as I pulled into the service station.

OhErr....

Its just that a 5 series beemer I had once did show negative miles. I didn't want to get into single figures, but the first station I could get to was further than I thought. Also, the last few miles seem to drop very quickly. I'm sure it went from 9 to 3 in the space of about 2 miles.

Which page of the hand book is the bit about exploding

Wink

I've had it on 0 a couple of times, 84.5L is the most diesel I've ever fitted in

I think that the diesel is 82 litres with the 86 litre tank in the petrol. Most manufacturers' state their volumes without filling the noozle so if you brim it it is possible to get in more than the tank theoretically holds.

I once did about 20 miles on zero Embarassed Took about 84 litres to fill.

The odd thing is, if you let it go to zero, then stop and switch off, when you switch back on after a couple of minutes, it will say 15 miles again! However, it will go back to zero very quickly.

Managed to squeeze 86 litres in mine after going about 20 miles past 0 on the computer thingy, definitely did not show minus miles and as I was in france at the time the atmosphere in the car got very tense as we crept towards the nearest fuel station. In hindsight having read some of the coments about the accuracy of the trip computer I will err on the side of caution in the future.

Brochure is different & the website says 82.3 diesel & 86.3 petrol. Which is right?

Hmmm, I wonder if that four litres difference is something to do with the FBH on the diesel?

The tanks are different, both hold more than referenced in this thread.

Thought is wasn't a good idea to run a D on fumes ? The sludge etc in the bottom of the tank is best just left there ..
..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........
