Clarke Strong Arm 3 ton for me...fine bit of kit for price.
Much better then the smaller ones.
OK its not quick lift but I always find you are better jacking up two and a half tons slowly!!Cheers Ian

When I bought the heavy lift Clarke, the guy in Machine Mart admitted the quick lift was poo and even said they get most of them back !

now you have got me thinking........, I read somewhere that the coil sprung D3's come with a bottle Jack, is that why LR put a scissor jack in the Air sprung ones.
Thats correct... I had a Coil Sprung Base 5 Seater first and it had the bottle jack, my new HSE has the scissor jack

£72.50 off this ebay seller - looks like a good piece of kit (weighs a ton on its own).
Hopefully wont have to worry about a bloody jack again.

I have been very happy since I started using a small, fairly light (compared to a Trolle jack!) 5,000kg bottle jack, under the wishbones (ie, in the space cast into the wishbone that is identified in the manual for the steel sprung d3).You jack the car just a fraction, the air suspension gives up after a short attempt at levelling, and then its too easy. Do it from access height, which keeps the wishbones flat for jacking. The only problem is that 50% of the time, you need to restart the car after you have lowered it (as it will trap the jack) but that problem disappears when you turn the engine one and the car re-settles to level.
Seriously, you are planning to carry a trolley jack???!! Promise you that it won't work well on unmade surfaces (ie, anything that does not allow very easy rolling)

Ken,
Is there such a thing as a more portable 20t air bottle jack - looks a lot less dodgy, and more compact than the beanbag sized exhaust airbag jacks. I know that I will need to use proper air pessure, but that would be OK.

Well, on the Screwfix note, as part of the job involving the jack fiasco, I sheared the 1/2" square drive off my "bargain" 210Nm screwfix torque wrench. Only set to 180Nm, and hadnt clicked, but went "soft" and then the 1/2 drive end came off.

The toolstation one is similar - avoid. I've just found the Draper one tipped by AutoExpress a few years back on Amazon for a few pennies more than £20 with free delivery - clicky.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

LIDL periodically have 210 nm torque wrenches badged PowerFix. Got mine from there 3 years ago for about £12 and have had no issues with it or any of the numerous other Powerfix tools I've bought from there.Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS.
