My last three D4’s came from the factory with 20” rims and 255 50 20 tyres. Change that tyre size and it’s a modification.

The first modification I did was to remove them and fit 19” or 18” (Compomotive) rims. My insurers were informed and happy not to increase my premium 👍

How does the SDV8 compare to the disco 4 experience you had? you seem like the perfect person to ask as you had more than 1 disco 4!?

I cannot see another vehicle to replace it for our family, i hate the D5 / velar(puke) with a passion the RR and RRS are really the only sucessors imo.

Bet that SDv8 is sweet

The difference in engines is as you’d expect. For me the SDV8 is the ideal engine for the L405, the most torque of all the engines and good fuel consumption. Early 30’s on a motorway run, which means my average mpg is pretty much the same as the D4.

The big thing, again for me, is the seating/driving position and glass area. It’s the closest you can get to the D3/4 and very different from that of the D5.

Practically and versatility wise the D4 can’t be matched. I miss the vast boot area and internal storage. Of course it’s only a 5 seater as well.

The heated and cooled 24 way (option) massage seats help soothe the pain of not having a D4 anymore. I do miss it, but I knew I would.

Having done 12,500 miles in a new SD6 D5 this year, it was the right choice for me. 👍

not much love for the D5 then!? im not surprised, i have not had the 'pleasure' to drive it , I have never been a fan from the offset it is very confused, and wtf putting the 2.0 engines in them is nuts you want at least the smoothness of v6+

Yes RR still a bit to bling for us, even if the budgets stretch thus far i really dont want to look so bling

I guess with the money lost in deprecation on the D4 we should just hold onto it and keep up the extended LR warranty until they will not allow it anymore upto 10 years i think? with less than 100K we only do a few thou a year and its only got 46K

The D5 wasn’t for me, but that’s not to say it was bad in anyway. Although my family were very critical of the rear (middle row) seats.

I just prefer the seating/driving position of the D4 and FFRR along with the bigger glass area and a decent sized tailgate.

The D5 has a lot going for it, but the “distinctive” styling is very much a Marmite thing.

I’m not sure that my FFRR on 20” rims looks any more or less bling than the HSE Luxury D5 on 22” rims did.

yes i hear you, here is me talking about being less bling then getting a set of 22s powder coated in the background this week. We just wanted to refresh the look of the D4 and a i thought a set of 22s for 700 genuine LR was a steal? Even came with budget tyres accelerator with 6mm all around on them. Will swap them out for pirelli more than the value of the wheels
