I thought that Gardx stuff that car showrooms did was supposed to be the "Bees Knees"
Anyone tried it?

BHH, it might be worth looking into ClearKote Red Moose Glaze..
BlackHole is pretty awesome, I use it near enough weekly!
This RS4 was cleansed with Lusso Revitalizing Cream, glazed with ClearKote Red Moose Glaze and finally waxed with Dodo Juice SuperNatural.
Gard-X, DiamondBrite, SupaGuard etc etc.. my view is "meh.."
"6-years protection and no more polishing!" Sorry, but, that is tosh. Diamond.Bite, with their two stage glaze kit also include a 'conserver'. This needs to be used every other wash to keep protection topped up. (also, it shouldn't go on glass as it streaks, and, can't touch black plastics as it will tarnisht them) So, "6 years"? Yes, so long as you're topping it up! No different to you applying a nice wax yourself or signing up to a maintenance plan with your local detailer.

And it's a double "meh" from me. Biggest con in the motor trade and easy money for the dealer. As Jim mentioned all needs topped up, so why pay circa £300 for something that you can do yourself for a fraction of the price and looks better.

Snow foam - take it or leave it. Foaming a quality pH neutral shampoo will do the same thing. Each have a release agent that softens the big 'bits' to be easily removed with a PW before putting your jumbo sponge over.
Some snow foams are derived from TFR and be caustic in nature. Let it dry on the car and say goodbye to any bling

Well I mangaged to obtain some Autoglym Lifeshine, a PDI kit........................did exactly it said on the Box, and it came out pretty well for a 1st timer, not sure what else to do with it, or whether I need to add more protection.

I was thinking the same
Lifeshine is okay as it is just a version of polish and extra gloss protection. Hopefully you picked up one of the £20 kits off fleabay that come up.

Well JKP, I got an ebay one for £4.99, thought it was worth a Punt...........
Maybe you can specifically design/recommend ME a kit, I know you dont do it personally, but what if you could list/pm me a componant of a detailing kit for my D3. Its a Zambezi Silver, so what would bring out the best in her.

OK MacLeod313, at £4.99 the punt is about right
For Z-Silver
pH neutral shampoo, wash mitt and two buckets (with grit guards preferrable)
Soft or Mild detailing clay and lube (care as anything stronger and not lubed may marr paint)
A polish such as Dodo Juice lime prime, Poorboys white diamond or Autoglym Super resin
Wax or sealant to top it up. Any carnauba paste wax (dodojuice hard candy, zymol carbon, swissvax shield) or liquid sealant such as AG extra gloss protection. More layers the better.
use those (or similar quality products) and it'll be nice and sparkly
I'm biased but if it were me...
DoDo Juice grey clay and lube
DJ Sour power shampoo
DJ lime prime
DJ wax
DJ rem mist detailing spray sealant
All available by googling or on fleabay

Applied correctly you should be able to get a nice shine and reflections
Just what I've been looking for... a definitive answer to 'how to clean and polish my Z-siver car'.
No matter what I've tried in the past it's never come up to the standards of the Java, Buck Blue brigade. There just isn't the same depth of colour as the darker shades.
Although that looks jkpAs you slide down the banister of life
