Underseal..... is it worth it....?
Hello all.
Recently got a D3 for the first time and looking to keep it long term.
Looking like a fair bit of rust has taken hold underneath.
What’s everyone’s opinion on getting it under sealed even though it’s already 15 years old?
Is it worth it? Any recommendations for place to do it?
Thanks.

With underseal you need to remove the rust first otherwise it will keep rusting. You can use rust converters first to kill the rust then underseal

Indeed DM chassis what he’s done is a work of art , outstanding
Does take a while to get the surface rust off, ceramic wheel, wire brush on cordless drill, etc , also removed all the wheel arch liners
Took a few weeks to pressure wash the inside of the chassis and allowing it to dry properly
Then used Dinitrol ,inside and out , handy as the chassis has plenty of drains holes so could see the Dinitrol coming out of the chassis so knew how far u had reached , pleased with the results
Think it’s every 5 x years for a recoat

He's a fair distance from you, but if you are serious you should at least talk to Disco_Mikey.
You need to consider the cost/benefit ratio.
Good luck, keep us posted as to what you do.

As DiscoMikey says get it done properly not a bodge job like they did on mine, had it done by the dealer i bought it from but big mistake as they had it for 2 days and didn't wash it right underneath as can be clearly see, didn't drop the spare wheel and do in the wheel well as i have overspray on my spare wheel and you can see in the well the shape of the gaps.

Just up the road from you at Johnstone is Preserve and Protect.
They get a great write up for treating cars and Searaider on here got his D3 treated with them and was extremely happy with the results.

Its a messy job, but for the money you would pay someone else to do it, you can buy a compressor, airline, wax applicator gun and the wax and probably have some change.
Dont like most people do, assume once its done thats it for life, it isnt, it will need redoing/touching up at least biannually and this is where having your own kit pays off and all it will cost is a gallon of chassis wax and you are good for another year or two.
The ends and lower edges of the sills are a known weak point.
