Updating ECUs

I have a disco 4 TDV6 2011 with 41K on the clock and sometimes the dreaded fault lights HDC/EBA/ABS/Gearbox fault/ suspension lowered etc etc
I am wondering if this could be solved or improved by updating the car software.

Firstly, how does the tool know whether there are updates for each ECU?
Second, has anyone done this or is it best left to the garage?

Unlikely. I expect you have a fault really.

1. It talks to the ECU and to the internet and see's if there is a later version
2. Best not to. But if you do, turn the interior lights off, and connect up a battery charger while it does it.

Thanks. I am at a loss as to the potential fault though!

Them faults can be caused by a low or failing battery, thats the first thing I would try.

Flack Thumbs Up

If they come on only after first start up it is the battery Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
