So I sold the D3 a good few weeks ago. Bought the wife a Mercedes GLA. Great mpg but it’s not for me.
Decided to keep the Mercedes and I’ve bought a D4 8 speed. What’s the best wheel tyre combination to go for as the vehicle will be used to go off road for shooting

welcome to the D4 madhouse/love shack 
there are only a few 18'' rims that will fit the D4 i think due to caliper and disc size, but from reading various threads over time on here i believe standard 19'' wheels with a decent set of tyres will get you out of all sorts of scrapes.

As above. I preferred 18” rims (Land Rover rims will NOT fit) but 19” rims with for example Pirelli Scorpion AT+ tyres will be more than capable for your intended use. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
