Do you mean the EPB was stuck on, and that's why you're working on it, or that you can't get the EPB to stay off when you take the key out the ignition?

Hi Richard.

I’m trying to change the discs but can’t get the epb to stay off. Enabling me to remove the disc

I have push button start so no key to turn.

Tried everything.

I don't know about autos, but on a manual you can hold the EPB button down while you turn the ignition off, and the EPB will stay off.

You absolutely won't get the rear discs off while the brake is on. If you hit them off, you'll likely do damage to the back plates and mechanism in the drums.

Hope you sort it.

When I renewed the EPB shoes on my D3 the springs and fittings were in such a bad way that the shoes were sitting at such a funny angle against the discs that getting them off was a real PITA.
It was more a case of stratigic blows rather than brute force to get the old shoes to sit correctly and enable the discs to be removed.

They were in such a state I was surprised that the EPB was even working!!
