Using L322 18in Wheel as a spare for D4

Hi to all,

new to this forum and Discovery's. Previously had L322's, but needed some more interior space and less of a cracked inlet manifold! Sad

My original L322 was a 2006MY TD6 SE Facelift (same wheel types as 2007MY on) with LR 18in Hurricane style alloys, which I swapped for 7 spoke LR 19in wheels. I kept the 18's intending to put some off road tyres on, but never got round to it.

As my 2014MY D4 HSE has 20in 511's on but a space saver spare, I was wondering if I could use one of the L322 18's as a full size spare. It would look a little odd if I needed to use it on the car, but I can live with that temporarily and I'd have a ready supply should one spare get nicked Very Happy I have done a search on the forum, but was even more confused after TBH.

So the question to those who know better than I is, can I use these wheels on my Disco or should I flog the lot on ebay and buy a spare 20in 511 instead (Probably the long term answer anyway)?

Won't fit as you need a minimum 19" wheel and you would need to make load rating was right for the D4 as well.

Cheers for the reply, I'm guessing they need to be at least 19in to clear the brake calipers.

RR 19in wheels do seem to be a bit cheaper on eBay, but I might as well go for a Discovery 20in 511 to match the rest and buy a wheel protector to go with it. Won't be long until I kerb one anyway! Whistle

Hopefully selling the 18in Hurricanes will fund it!

And doesn’t fit on a D3 either as they foul the brake callipers. Many on here have bought as they were cheap, then to find out why they were so cheap. Whistle

Al, I got the name from the multiple ebay postings showing them using the name Hurricane, but now I have looked a bit closer, they are different from Hurricanes (and the posting descriptions are wrong). There are similarities, but they are different wheels indeed. No idea what they actually are, so a little research will be required before posting them for sale myself.

Couldn't give them away to L322 owners as everyone wants bigger alloys, not smaller (they're from a poverty spec model after all). I will say one thing though, the car felt a lot better on them than the 19's (less vibration) and the extra rubber meant less chance of wheel damage. Ideal for a set of Off roaders or winters, but thats about it.
