V8 Diesel for Discovery 3 perhaps! |
|
An article in this weeks 'Autocar' talks about tests on a new V8 diesel engine being tested for the Range Rover & Range Rover Sport.
It's a 3.6 litre twin turbo unit developing around 260bhp. What's the chances of this being made available in the Discovery 3?

I suspect the TDV8 will appear in the D3 at some point, don't know when though. LR will no doubt make it available in the RR and RRS first.
Shame really, the extra torque that that's going to put out is the only reason I'd consider getting another D3. Not that I wouldn't have another one, just that mine does everything I want so I see no need to swap it for a newer one The End

In time yes, but short term no, I don't reckon it will be a twin either, that'll go in the Jag, that said the new Freelander looks like it is going to get a 2.4 twin Turbo job of 180 odd bhp. Therefore I would have thought this would make it important to beef up D3. Of course they may just put the 2.2 single turbo that is destined to go in Defender. Their big problem seems to be a lot of over lap between models, but a V8 to compete against VW V10 would be good 8) but that does cost £50K+ I guess D3 with a V8 would be pushing that level too and probably only available in higher specs. Turbochip had better start saving his pennies! 300 bhp D3 anyone DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

D4 HSE Lux - Montalcino Red Gone

That'll probably be the TDV8 that's going to appear some time, don't think there's been a definitive answer as to when/if it'll be available for the D3
As well as the 3.6 TDV8 there's also speak of a 3.0 TDV6 I seem to remember... The End

Slimer,
You're right there will be a 'bored out' version of the current 2.7 TDV6 taking it up to 3.0.
I understand it will be going into the RR Sport and possibly the Disco3 but only in HSE trim level Money talks.Sex sells.Mud sticks.Time flys. happens.People talk.Impressions last!

As I thought. I have this same problem with Audi where the bigger A6/Q7 stuff also comes with auto only. Out here in the sticks we like our manuals!
