D£ V8 Warm up

Had my D3 V8 for a few weeks now and I'm very pleased with it, but it does take quite a while to warm up - much longer than my P38. Also in cold weather it is struggling to get properly into the running region on the temperature gauge. Is there a thermostat and if so where is it?

In cold weather the Webasto fuel burning heater assists warm up if the outside temp is below 6 deg C and engine coolant is below 73 deg C. So if its not working the warm up time will take much longer due to the thermal efficiency of the TDV6. You may need to have diagnostics run on your Webasto!

He’s got a petrol V8. Whistle Whistle

The thermostat is in its housing under the engine cover. Plenty of videos on the tube, it’s a pretty easy job to change. This one explains it quite well, https://youtu.be/eK3Nza31wQE.

Sounds like your thermostat is not closing as it should. When replacing don't buy the Thermostat alone, but the full Thermostat housing. Almost same price and you get the complete assembly including sensor...

Doesn't sound right. Mine heats up quicker than any car I've owned.

Do what others have suggested and change the thermostat. Keep an eye on coolant also, as the V8 thermostat housing is notorious for cracking and slow coolant leaks.

Although i bought the full kit, I haven't time or weather at the moment to fit it so have just fitted the thermostat and it's housing. Will fit in the spring and change belts and coolant at the same time
