Reading the recall action notice it refers to the "brake booster vacuum pipe and oil in the booster" no mention of replacing the vacuum pump although there is mention of a leaky vacuum pump check valve in the May 2007 and June 2009 section of the accompanying letter?
I thought that the problem was a leaky seal in the vacuum pump drive from the camshaft.

It looks like the vave is the new part and maybe part of the vac line?

Given the large number of people having this fault in the UK, either LR are being s or VOSA want all 4x4 drivers to die. Or c) the cogs are tied in red tape and the recall will happen in the UK as soon as the document has been signed off by a cross-gender, multi-cultural ethnically balanced steer group. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Do the countries mentioned have a thinner grade of engine oil recommended for them that might slip past the seal quicker? Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Or tougher legislation to bring manufacturers to task over safety related failures I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Hmmm...my VIN is in the affected range as is my country.
On the second page (sample letter to customer) it says that LR is carrying out voluntary recalls - what does the voluntary bit mean?
Also I assume, being a safety recall, that it applies equally to vehicles out of warranty?
Cheers,

The voluntary bit means that they are not being forced to do it by any other statutory authority
It should apply out of warranty as well I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Great - thanks SJR But this then blows NDs theory out of the water
I noticed that it mentions D3/LR3 EURO IV compliant vehicles only between 2005-2007....but according to the wiki, EU IV was only brought in in MY07....
Could this mean that the recall only applies to those D3s fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) that maybe wasn't ever offered as an option in the UK (and hence the omission of UK vehicles in the recall notice??)....or am I barking up the wrong tree? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

But....I've been looking into this further - EURO IV compliance was introduced in late 2006 (i.e. >=MY07) to comply with the 07/01/07 legislation date, but a DPF didn't seem to be required to make the 2.7 TDV6 compliant (although it was available as a cost-option on MY08 onwards).
So....why does the VIN range include non-EURO IV D3s from early 2006 and then state 'only EURO IV vehicles' which were only available in late 2006....
Just trying to find out exactly who is affected by this recall.....and it's much more fun to figure it out than call the dealer who will deny all knowledge anyway 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Just check yours for oil. If it is I am sure they will fix anyway. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

They shouldn't have to.
Just found out that mine is outside the VIN, gone twice I think LR are being very stupid on this one. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
