Update - replaced the brake light switch. Checked the n/s/r arch wiring for damage and corrosion and all is clean and undamaged.
System shutdown is occurring more regularly.
Before i go back to bba reman and ask them to check it again, is there a way to test the medium speed can bus, either totally or on each ecu module that it goes through?
When I connect the iid tool during a system failure I get a message about 'no connection with medium speed CAN'
Any suggestions at this point would be greatly received, I need it to be more reliable than it is at the moment. Other road users have me down for a moron who leaves their hazards on
hi
could it be a bad connector on the back of ur instrument cluster
ie , if u pulled out the instrument cluster then wiggled the connectors to see if any error came up
or a loose connector at ur fuse box
hope u get it resolved

Update time.
Well I bought a new instrument pack, (christmas is now cancelled) Spent the evening trying to get it work, with the much appreciated help from Patrick @ Gap.
It appears that even after syncing the ccf file back on and syncing the odometer and learn VIN many times with a successful result as per image.
The new unit won't learn the VIN and it's missing from the ECU info and the bloody thing refuses to start (no starter motor)

I get left with a some new errors which implies to me that the IPAC doesn't want to talk to the other units that have the VIN

Has anybody else had any such issues, I can't believe it's going to be stuck in my garage for another week now.

Vehicle Fault System Shutting Down - Now fixed
Well I finally got to drive it to work this morning. With no errors hopefully it will stay that way.
I have to say the support from Patrick at Gap-Diagnostic is second to none, an excellent service.
It would appear that the original CCF sync onto the new IPC had failed in some way and left it half locked without a VIN.
Patrick provided a manual firmware to reset the IPC which fixed the error.
It is such a pleasure to drive in comparison to the D2
Smiled all the way to work even at 5 in the morning.

Carl R,
Sadly, mine is doing exactly the same thing...
Can I ask where you bought your new cluster from? Googling suppliers throws up prices from £450 to £750..
Thanks, New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

As Dave says worth checking with local main dealer and then you don't have to worry about postage and stuff
Just for reference it's still working fine and no errors done around 500 miles since changing.

Bit of an update..
Removed various dash panels to get instrument pack out. Then drove the car with the aim of waiting for the fault, and then being able to wiggle wires, poke things etc. to see what might either exacerbate or cure the problem.
With the cluster loose, just sitting on the column, it hasn't thrown a wobbly in 120 miles (previously, it was about every 5 minutes...)
So do I bolt it back in? Maybe tightening the cluster causes something inside to tension or bend very slightly and open up a crack in the circuit board..?
I feel pleased to have found the fault, but Im not convinced tis a permanent fix.New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.

Might have just been a dodgy connection on the plug. I assume you unplugged it and reconnected it. I hate intermittent faults, they always appears when you don't want them.

Their is an underlying fault in the unit...I myself did this and prolonged the life by..days. The fault became more regular and lasted longer as an event.
I think you should continue until you have to replace..does it reappear if you fix unit back? Possibly flexing in the unit will cause the fault..a dry joint or crack in pcb to appear.
The solution is fairly simple to resolve but a tad expensive.
Oh and I must get a new panel clip... it did the ping... where the hell did that go trick!

If you can find the panel clips, please post a link. I've been through the AF website, but can't find the metal springy ones... New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
