Vehicle Fault System Shutting Down

2 weeks into ownership, and today it's decided to throw a big wobbly. Having read the other 3 posts with the same title I'm not sure what the cause is.

The hazards flash and all the internal systems shutdown '---' for the ext temp and clock. Interestingly the IID tool thinks the ignition is off even when it's on. Sorry for the large amount of images but it threw a lot of errors.

It had a new battery last week exide 1000 from tayna. Battery terminals and earth straps appear secure.

Suppose to towing the caravan on holiday tomorrow. (poor old D2 is going to have to do it again)

Any pointers where to start would be great

TIA

hi

normally the first thing to do is clear all the faults along with a hard reset, then see what faults come back

U faults codes can normally be ignored Thumbs Up

It only had 2 faults previously, Am I right in thinking the hard reset is disconnect battery and short the battery cables.

Hi Carl

yes , short out the battery leads with the battery removed

when my battery has gone flat and after charging it and reconnected some past codes have reappeared

i then recleared them and remained clear

at least then if codes come back u know they are relevant to the current situation

Sometimes it's corrosion under the TCC module (behind the battery) that does it. When mine had similar symptoms it needed a new instrument cluster. It's been fine since.

hi GK

funny u should say that , i've seen a few pics here about the connections on the modules behind the battery , know when i first fitted a new battery the cover was loose and took me ages to get it all back together properly

Hi Guys, thank for the replies

I went back out there and it was working fine cleared the faults and did a hard reset.

Got left with these 2

went to drive it off the drive again and it threw a wobbly again didn't completely shutdown this time though.

and then produced all these faults again

I'm starting to think theres a connection problem between the BCM and Instrument cluster based on the errors.

No com's with IPC

NExt time it happens, bang the top of the dash

Possibly a loose connection or the IPC giving up...

Well I took the cluster out and cleaned the contacts.
Put it all back and drove 30 odd miles before it played up again. Tried bashing the dash without without any success. Ended up using the d2 to tow the tin tent, glad I did, the mud in the grass pitch we have is horrendous.

Got a call from them yesterday to say they had found a fault, received it back today. Put it back in and all appears well.

Looked into the U0122 error and brake pedal switch came up a lot. Took it apart as below, i assume that’s not good

Update - replaced the brake light switch. Checked the n/s/r arch wiring for damage and corrosion and all is clean and undamaged.

System shutdown is occurring more regularly.

Before i go back to bba reman and ask them to check it again, is there a way to test the medium speed can bus, either totally or on each ecu module that it goes through?

When I connect the iid tool during a system failure I get a message about 'no connection with medium speed CAN'

Any suggestions at this point would be greatly received, I need it to be more reliable than it is at the moment. Other road users have me down for a moron who leaves their hazards on Sad
