I'm no expert but the longer the better, but remember you have a maximum length if you tow on the road, but I don't know what it is. I have black rat gear an 8 tn and a 12 ton with 3.5 and 4.7 tn shackles, with a spade of theirs (as demonstrated in the classroom) and gloves. Its expensive but very well made. Just got to learn how to use it!DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Max tow length is 15 feet on the road. Off road and good rope or strap with some length is required.
In my list don't be put off with ropes as special woven modern ropes are also in my box for capstaning myself out if a useful tree is nearby. need a good length then.
Mosy of the items appear to be reasonable, depends on thier real strength.

First things first what do you want the rope for?
that will play a hell of a part on your choice, unless you really know what you are doing stay away from kinetic ropes!!!!!! USED WRONG THEY WILL KILL YOU.

A good recovery rope and the right shackles to connect it to the D3 and another vehicle. Be useful for helping others out of the poo in the winter too.
Do Black Rat have an internet ?

Ok first get those shackles as they are tested and come with the certificate and I would say at a reasonable price as well for tested stuff.
I would then get the 8mtr strop as it sometimes pays to have it longer than required as it keeps you away from the sticky stuff. Usually I would recommend using a bridle on both vehicles as this will help take out the harshness of the recovery and make it safer as it spreads the load but you only have one recovery point on a Standard D3

There are three reasons you might need a rope.
1) Yanking someone that is stuck - for this purpose you want a rope that is strong, but stretchy. You want it to absorb energy, then translate it into pull. Otherwise you will just rip off the recovery point.
2) Towing (which seems to be these ropes) - you don't want stretch.
