vibration in bends and possible noisy tappets????

help please

i have only drove old 4x4's and noise while driving was put down to age but the d3 is only just two, am i been paranoid, whilst in gear and going round a bend (left of right) or at low revs when accellerating i can hear a noise that sounds like a bearing starting to wear, is this part of the permenant four wheel drive and normal and would i get a slight vibration through the steering wheel? if not any suggestions. Also i know its a diesel but my mate has a D3 06 and it wouldnt be as noisey. your comments as always are greatly appreciated.

Check the tyres. If its on Wranglers, and they are getting worn, then they do start to make a noise. Some say they sound like wheel bearings wearing out.

Always used (or had fitted so continued to use) Wranglers... and yes, they do sound like a bearing going. No matter what vehicle they are fitted to, they wear in a castleated fashion and become very noisy.

And mac1, very glad to hear you drive around corners in gear Thumbs Up Coasting is not good for control Wink

A solution to your NOISE problem!!! Guarente'ed

Hi Mac1, and welcome to the 'fold' Very Happy .... you know, it isn't that long ago I knew a guy who giggled and laughed (out loud) at a D3 owner 'listing questions' and 'talking technical issues' on a 'forum' and low and behold!!!!??? (Stones and greenhouses???)
Anyway, to your problem(s) what you are describing appears more to be a whine noise... and, as many other members on this excellent site can agree with me, i'm sure, it is all caused by that well known defective attachment known as 'the wife', yes, don't let her 'sit in the back' and 'tell you how to drive your beloved D3!' [SHE] has her own vehicle, let her (preferrably) follow behind you in that, turn your radio/CD player WAY UP, so when she does ring you to 'Tell you how to drive, again', you simply cannot hear your phone ringing! Ignore her 'flashing lights' and threats to remove/reduce marital right's, [she] will need you before you will need her, you have a D3 to love now (not in a caraphaelia way!) And be a man and TELL HER why you are doing all this, stand up to her, she is just a woman... but PLEASE...

I changed from worn Wrangler's with about 42K on them to new Synchrones - difference is amazing
It used to sound like a transmission problem / wheel bearing - now sounds OK
