Warning Lights with EGR Faliure MY06? |
|
Help really needed, sorry to mention the EGR word, and yes I have done a search.
My D3 auto, MY06 feels a little underpowered, now reading up it could be either EGR valves or the turbo. From what I understand if it was the turbo I would get warning lights, is this the same for EGR problems, would I get a warning or do you just notice from a loss of power?
How noticable is an EGR faliure, to get the car up to 70mph my foot needs to be hard down on the accelerator, however it is not too sluggish pulling away (once warm), any ideas?
Thanks in advance

If it was a turbo related fault, it would come up "Engine system fault" on the dash.
As your is an 06, there is no EML for a faulty EGR valve, only way to tell is to get it checked via a diagnostics computer, or blank off one EGR valve at a time, and see which side restores power when blanked off. My D3 Build Thread

Dealer told me the vanes in the turbo can stick and there ais a software updat to fix. No idea how this would work though. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

ELD70, It is down to 17mpg, I had put this down to the cold spell, the FBH and lots of short trips by SWMBO.
I think it is a trip to the dealers, thanks for all your help guys, this site is tops.

So the car has been in the dealers today, both turbo and EGRs functioning normally.... one thing they did notice was thet the car had been running in snow mode for quite a while and the car had averaged just 19mpg from new (25,000 miles).
They checked the engine mapping, it was the latest map, therefore they have asked to just keep an eye on it.... any thoughts?

i had the same symtoms as you but with "engine system fault " on the screen dealer had it for an age , two egr valves fitted and the next day the same message up now there telling me i need a new turbo. this is all ten days after the warranty expired, the words stitched up and kipper spring to mind.

mmmm..... in time of poor sales I hope LR are not fobbing people off deferring work to after the end of warrantee with the aim of getting the good old punter to pay instead

I would push for a goodwill claim.
Provided you have FSH, and have used the dealer for all servicing, i would think they should cover 100% of the cost of repair, given its not even 2 weeks out of warranty. If not, a call to customer care may be in order.
If you havnt used a dealer for servicing etc, they may be reluctant to provide the full cost of repair though... My D3 Build Thread

TBH, that is pretty shocking. I would call customer care and have a rant. They usually bend over backwards to help, especially if you have been a loyal LR customer, which it seems you have been My D3 Build Thread
