There’s so many mixed reviews for all of them. In honesty, you might as well go blindfolded and stick a pin. Sod law dictates what ever you choose won’t cover what you claim for.

My boy went with WD, it’s fine, but he hasn’t had to claim - yet. There again his premium for his Corsa was roughly £160 for the gold coverage and he got AA cover, so a bit of a no brainer.

Motor Easy are currently rejecting my claims because the component has not suffered a "sudden mechanical failure". So far they have rejected rear upper suspensions arms, front lower arms, 2 front calipers and a rear CV boot (they decided this was accident damage). Despite all these items being "listed components" and despite that they cover "wear and tear", it seems you need the holy trinity and add in sudden mechanical failure. They never seem to be able to respond as to what exactly constitutes sudden mechanical failure of these listed items.

So my advice would be to avoid Motor Easy.

My old ME cover didn't cover wear and tear for the first 90 days, only sudden mechanical failure. But after that, W&T was covered. For balance, WD pulled the same trick when the front suspension air block suddenly and mechanically failed but they said it was wear and tear and wouldn't pay out within 90 days of setting up the policy. Also for the record I had 3 successful claims with ME, including suspension arms on the front and also door lock actuator.

To me, all insurances are a potential rip off, in the end for my D4 I had cover purely to cover the engine due to crankshaft failure and I had that in writing. For everything else, I'd not get cover again. I'd feel better off putting the money in a savings account.

Agree with James! How can wear and tear equal sudden mechanical failure? Sounds like two completely different things to me! Evil or Very Mad

Just bumping this thread in the hope someone can answer Rob's question:-

Does anyone know what their maximum mileage is, on their new system?

I had a WD policy on my SL350, on which I had never claimed. The mileage was 56k, but they declined to quote for a renewal as the car was, just, 9 years old, and they wouldn't offer "past 10 years old".

I was disappointed, but decided to self insure, as all the other quotes were for reduced cover at much increased premiums.

My Disco4 cover, with WD, comes to an end next year, when mileage will probably be c. 50k, so I'm still interested in others recent experience with WD, under the new policy terms.

MotorEasy doesn't appeal to me, but they are probably the nearest to WD in terms, although WD's cover seems more comprehensive.

I should find out myself soon as I'm nearly at 130k, at which point my current cover stops. Im not expecting to be able to extend anything!

I suppose one way to look at it is we're just buying an insurance policy against the crank going. Shocked

I've never bothered with a warranty before, I just self insure, but the price of a new engine for these if it went is beyond that.

I just got a letter from them. Even though I don’t have the car any more.

It says unfortunately as we have been taken over and your car is 10 years old we can no longer offer you warranty. Mileage isn’t mentioned.
