Warranty Recommendations Wanted

Having seen the disturbing number of posts about crank failure on the SDV6 (and yes I realise there are a lot more people without the problem), I'm reluctantly coming to the conclusion that I'll need a warranty on the Disco.

Any recommendations of Warranty Direct / LR Assured Warranty / Car Care Plan direct? Specifically anyone who has had the crank failure resolved under warranty without relying on goodwill from LR? What sort of excess is typical?

I bought my car from a non-franchised dealer so it doesn't have a 2-year warranty.

Thanks,

Ian.

I tend to bang the drum for Warranty Direct. I've had my MY10 D4 for 3 years and used WD after the LR one-year warranty expired.

To date, the costs of the warranty have pretty much matched the repairs I've had done. The WD benefits are that you get wear-and-tear cover and, if you negotiate (and pay a bit extra), the betterment clause (i.e. improving the vehicle by replacing old parts with new) which normally requires a contribution can be removed.

Having said that, when the 3 year warranty on my wife's Evoque expired, she wanted the LR warranty as it came with LR Assistance, which I had used and found to be excellent. That said, because of her work situation, the car has done about 500 miles since the end of April when the warranty was renewed.... Big Cry

Others on here have had poor experiences with WD, but mine have all been positive.

I looked at MotorEasy when the renewal came through from WD but the price difference was minimal.

I stuck with WD because I've been with them a few years now and they've paid all my claims without issue - plus one unapproved claim which I submitted after the work was done without their knowledge.

The discretionary element around MotorEasy raised by others on here made me nervous.

Has anyone confirmed that WD will cover the cost of an engine replacement in case of crank failure?

As per their stated covered parts, they should. I hope they will if mine ever goes!

WD don't cover suspension bushes, Motoreasy due! Niether seem to cover EGR's, I've been looking this morn at prices and T&C's.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Depending on the age and mileage of the vehicle they will cover suspension parts. Had the front lower arms and bushes done twice in a year a day of each other and WD paid up on both occasions.

However, at 7 years and 115k miles they won't cover now, hence I'm with MotorEasy who do!

Thumbs Up

I have had them pay out on a D4 engine. End bill was £16k

Took a lot of Censored around to get there though...
