I have taken my D3 offroad quite a few times now. Its only with the recent really wet wheather that it is now getting a bit messy. I have muddy gritty water and half a field jammed into all the underside.
I have pressure washed what I can see !.
Does anyone have any advice on what areas to flush etc that I cant see ??
Cheers
Duncan Duncan

One thing to bear in mind, DON'T jet wash the radiator or intercooler. If the front of the rad is clogged, then clean them off with a steady stream of running water.
Reason? if you blast the crap out of it, you will force the muck deep into the core and it will never come out. It will then reduce the efficiency of the rad and the intercooler.

Thanks Gareth,
learnt that lesson on my old defender
I think ive got most of it out. I stuck a pipe into one of the chassis holeson each side and muddy water came out for about 10 mins
It seems clear now though Duncan

I'll tell you what! you would never believe the amount of crap that stays in the nooks and crannies of a Land Rover thats been in the mud.
My old 2a gets thoroughly cleaned after every off road foray, and I always thought I had managed to clean most of it off. After all, the 2a is not exactly complex underneath and gives good access to all areas with the power washer.
When I stripped it down for a chassis change a few years ago, there was absolutely loads of caked on mud in all areas that you don't see.
The performance of the rebuilt vehicle was far greater than previous - mostly down to weight reduction by mud loss!
My D3 gets plenty of mud action, but I clean what can be seen. I blast underneath to get any obvious clumps of mud off, but whats up in the deep nether regions of my underside god only knows

When Slimer and I fitted the A bar to mine...a mountain mixture of Yarwell \ Tixover \ Rockingham \ Boughrood \ Peaks \ Surrey Lanes \ Welsh Lanes \ Beaches fell out onto the tarmac when we took the front bumper off. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
