Wash and wax
Ok folks what are your tips for keeping the disco in tip top . Thinking of treating her to a good wash and polish, clay bar etc. What products do you all use on here ?

I too would like to know the answer to this, particularly the clay bar, any difference in make? how long do they last? What size is neede? What is the procedure? What is the best detailer for a black Disco? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

some form of jet wash and a wash down with a 2 bucket setup (one for dirty water, one with the suds in)
Then a fallout remover (iron-x or similar)
Then jet washed down
Then Tar Remover with a soft cloth
Washed down and jet washed
Clay cloth (like a bar, but 10 times faster and can be rinsed if dropped)
Washed again
Dried using a plush drying towel
Taped up and machine polished (meguiers microfibre pad polishing system)
Buffed off
GTechniq C2 or similar to finish
now thats what i would do if i had the time..... im going to really have to make time and get this done, been nearly two years since the last wash, in-between me letting dealers do it

If you mean polish, for black, you can't got far wrong with Poor Boys Black hole as a polish, it gives a great finish, but does have fillers which microscopically fills the swirls to make them less visible, but your going to need to seal the paint afterwards, with a wax or sealent

When I ran out of the Sonax Plastic Restorer Gel I replaced it with a pot of Black To The Future - goes on easier and seems to last a bit longer but the results are pretty much the same.Previously owned an '08 D3 HSE in Stornoway grey but jumped ship to see what the Swedes have to offer.

I have a Java Black D3 and use the following:-
Full wash and rinse.
Use drying cloth/blanket
AutoGlym detailer and clay bar (wipe dry with cloth)
AutoGlym super resin polish (Twice)
Dodo Juice purple haze wax
It's not a quick job but your paintwork will thank you for it. Someone also suggested using a sealant after the wax but I haven't tried that just yet.

Use the sealant before the wax, give it time to cure first though

Have a look at 'Detailing World' - its an any opener ...... but for me of late - lifes just too short to do so much fannying around - been there done that - 10 minutes down the road here in Cornwall I may have well not bothered what with the mud on the roads and constant sand/salt spray (I know the more you do to protect and all that..... easier to clean/less damage etc etc...)
Just now use two buckets - 'no rinse' in one ..... never a sponge or leather - big fluffy 'micro-fibre type towel (for 'drying") that can be draped over bonnet and pulled back in one sweep. 'Polished' twice a year- and if its not too sandy maybe a once over with a 'quick detail' spray ..... if I think I can get away with it by not adding too many more swirls.... doesn't happen very often now I'm here on the coast! 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

I use Gyeon bathe+ shampoo, sometimes Meguires ultimate compound polish to get rid of small swirls and always finish with Gyeon cure silicon sealant, which lasts about 12 weeks. Puts a nice shine on it, though at the moment it's looking a bit rough.
I should add I use Gyeon edge less microfibre towels, a lambs wool wash mitt and Bilt Hamber autowheel, brilliant for getting rid of the brake dust. Spray on and it turns bright purple as it works.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I can highly recommend the clay cloth company, their products and prices are great and after spending a fortune on other products that don't live up to the hype, their Killerwaxx range is amazing.

A clay glove is much quicker - spray some lube on give it a good rub and bingo, good as new.
(follow up with quick polish and wax to seal)
