Waterproof covers

Hi

With back surgery on the horizon I won’t be using my D3 for possibly a few months

Seeing it’s also winter Im thinking it may be sensible about getting a waterproof cover for it

Will leave my CTEK charger plugged in and the engine oil and filter are only a few months old, also anti freeze is at 50% , hand brake off and left in park

Can anyone recommend a cover please

Just trying to ensure it’s cared for whilst not using it

Thanks so much as always Bow down Thumbs Up

Can't help with the cover but would like to ask why you are going to leave in drive?

I don't think you can leave it in drive, as you can't remove the key !!!

Good morning,

I have had one of these on the D4 for about 9 months now and it is just fine and dandy. I just take a look every few months and turn the old girl over for 30 minutes.

http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/store/produc...amp;page=1

I bought the Stormforce Plus which admittedly is not so cheap. It comes with all the body straps and is securely fastened down. Every time I make sure the car is bone dry before applying the cover.

EPB off as you said (made the mistake of leaving this on once before - boy does it lock on)!

Plus a CTEK charger connected via the Disco4 Shop charger point http://www.disco4.com/shop/tow-electrics-c...c-p45.html

Tyre pressures up to 3.5 Bar (I think from memory) to try and stop them 'flatting'.

Oh and a note on the front seat reminding me to disconnect the charger and reduce the tyre pressures before driving away.

One of the guys on here (who stores vehicles professionally) also said have a good wipe around in the cabin with antibacterial wipes as you will be surprised what can grow and fester - so I had a good session wiping down Smile

Good luck with the surgery Thumbs Up

Hi

Many thks for the great advice and will check out the link

Indeed I fitted a 12 s socket and made up a trailer lead, so can leave the CTEK plugged in , also fitted a trailer point on The front of the house and charger is in the hallway , just saves me messing around

Good call about the tyres

Thks again Thumbs Up

England

As per Kilovolt’s recommendation that it needs to be bone dry, personally I would make sure it is also clean, any bit of grit on the paintwork will get ground in when the wind ripples the cover.

I knew of someone who used a framed tent type workshop/garage like this sort of thing:
https://www.wido.com/product/heavy-duty-in...gIcSvD_BwE

He put a load of air in the tyres and had someone move the car slightly forward and then back again on a regular basis.

Specialised Covers are supposed to be the best but they're not cheap.

Yes, which was the main reason behind buying the tent. I appreciate that the space it takes up might be an issue, as well as the aesthetics. Thumbs Up

Hi

Thks so much for the great links and had a chance to look through them

Wish to run this one past u to see what u thought plse

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/Every-Car-Cover...2006803013

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disc...Sws0hZ1N1O

Times like this would adore a garage , as per pic , can tuck the D3 tight to the hedge and the charging socket on the front of the house is left hand side of the front door

Thks again Thumbs Up

I’d not be too worried about leaving it uncovered. Treat all the plastic trim and wax the paintwork. If someone was able to deal with any leaves and bird droppings, I think it would be fine uncovered. Thumbs Up

I would be concerned about leaving it covered with a conventional cover, paint damage etc..

If you need to cover it I would suggest a Carcoon.

Either way I would clean the interior with anti-bacterial wipes in the hope of reducing fungal growth.

I would also remove all carpets & mats which only hold moisture.
