Weird noise (grinding?) when driving +/- 25 mph ...

Guys, I searched the forum, but I cannot seem to find a topic that describes my 'problem'(?).

When I drive around 25mph / 40km in my Discovery 3, I often hear a sound (or should I say hear ánd feel something) that can be described as if I drive over grid/gravel. It looks like it comes from rear left and it never stays very long.. about 2 seconds... This doesn't appear when I am driving faster.

Wheels / tyres have been replaced with a new set and problem stays the same.

Who can help?

Regards,
Goswin

Could it be this easy: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic30622.html

Knock from your front and/or rear suspension? - thx to Disco_Mikey ... I'll give it a try (although my ARB bushes should have been replaced already)

To be honest, worn ARB bushes do not cause a grating noise like driving over gravel - it's usually more of a dry 'clonk'.

As a wild guess, it sounds like the traction control is activating to me Shocked

When you say that it lasts 2 seconds, is it a constant noise during 2 seconds, or maybe a few clonks in a 2 second period?

Does it only happen in a straight line or around corners too? When you are accelerating or coasting along?

Can you feel it mostly through the brake pedal or through the steering wheel?

Hi,

I have a similar problem, I called Assistance out and as usual the car would not do it whilst they were there.

I get a really loud rumble / vibration and then occasionally a rattle from the rear passenger side and I have narrowed it down to happening when I've gone round a tight left hand corner - could this be the ARB bushes??

It feels like I've got a piece of wood stuck to the tyre as I drive down the road. Once I stop and start again all is OK

Any ideas??

I get this noise and rummble. Only happens at low speed when turning sharp left or right. Is more noticable when pulling away from standstill. I think it is coming from the front passenger wheel.

It reminds me of a locked diff, fine going straight but as soon as you turn the wheel you get that braking/wheel slipping effect.

Just found out that my noise was a completely disintergrated propshaft bearing.

It was a real mess by all acconts.

Simple fix I was told on Saturday

Told today that the parts are on back order

Is this failure common???
