Weird VIN number on current models? anyone know all the dets |
|
I have scoured the web and the site to decode the VIN of a brand new Disco 4 and am coming up with some issues.
I am guessing most of the VIN sites do not have latest model info - anyone here know the latest in Disco 4 VINs?
I am looking specifically at the group 6 digit which describes the transmission.
Th VIN, without the serial number, is as follows: SAL LA A A G 6 C A XXXXXX
The number 6 does not come up any where - the car I am looking at should have a 4 instead of a 6.
Any ideas?

There is a link here:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/VIN_Details
which explains the system of numbering but does not solve your problem. It may help a little.
I have a 5 where you have a 6 and that also does not seem to be catered for unless it's a new category for the 8 speed gearbox in which case 5 may refer to RHD 8 Speed and 6 may refer to LHD 8 Speed. I hope that helps ( a little)

@Bill: thanks for that. I suspect you are right as the car is indeed a LHD with an 8 speed box. But I cannot seem to find any confirmation of this from any VIN info sites. Still looking, and will post an update if i get one, but ideas and feedback are always welcome!
