Hi sp60, may I suggest you post your queries about tyres in the Wheels & Tyres section of this forum and I'm sure you'll get some useful advice/tips.
Hi Biggles, DiscoMikey will soon let you know what a great car you've purchased - or possibly not
Hi Sprocky, general advice seems to be snow chains on all 4 tyres but if you only have one set of chains then put them on the front. Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
Bodsy's remote for FBH

snooping for fixes and highjacking posts |
|
Hi all,
Just got my first D3 after a little cut back on beer and fishing equipment. I first had a slight “twinge” driving my mate from works old one and thought then to myself that I wanted one had a few land rovers before so knew what I was getting myself in for, a beat up old tdi off roader and a freelander 1 td which contrary to popular belief was a pretty good little truck.. Unfortunately I haven’t a great example of a D3 by any standards but it does do the job for me and family and the mrs’ loves it so thought I’d come say hi and try highjack some other people’s posts and try to get my workhorse/family car/tow vehicle a little more healthy.

Changing chassis wiring loom |
|
Hi,
I’m a newbie on here,I have just bought a 2008 discovery 3 HSE Auto, It has a damaged bit on the chassis wiring loom, I’ve been told it can’t be spliced because it won’t work correctly?
Can I change the wiring loom without taking the body off?

Hi all
Just purchased a disco 3 to use at a bird sanctuary for feeding purposes. Tracks are starting to form deep ruts so I required some thing to rise above this problem.
My Disco 3 is a 2007 HSE. 120 k on the clock. I only do around 5k a year so not a problem. Drives really well and fuel economy is not bad. When I bought the disco the dealer had to replace the alternator and tension pulley along with a door actuator. Small issue with a wandering door mirror but not big thing.
Been fine driven most days, until last weekend and it’s started to make a noise from the side of the engine. Small loss of power so I looked into the forum for answers and I think it could be the intercooler pipe. Will need to have a look when it stops raining.
Found the site very informative.

Hi guys just saying hi, iv come over the D3's from a td5. Got an 07 d3 xs and live in sunny Norfolk.
One question I do have (probably one of meny )
But I seem to be using a lot hell of a lot more diesel then my td5 to the point I can watch the fuel gauge just drop.
It's a tdv6 xs with Manuel box. This is a new breed to me stepping away from the td5, any ideas what to look out for, I think maybe a recap may be in order.
Thanks in advance.

I would give your engine a good service and clean your air flow and manifold pressure sensor.
A manual should be doing around 28-32 mpg but it depends on your length of journey

I made the same move three years ago! Y-plate TD5 to 09-plate TDV6. The fuel consumption is a little higher on the D3 than it was on the D2, for sure - but not a 'hell of a lot'.
I averaged 28.3 with the D2 over the four years I owned it, and the D3 has worked out at 26.2 in the three years I've driven it so far. (Those are actual figures, not what the optimistic trip computer tells me! Yes, I'm sad enough to keep a spreadsheet of my fuel consumption )

New member alert
Don't have one yet and torn between a D3/4 and a nice D2 td5 if such thing still exists
Not new to LR Previously had an '04 TD5 pursuit which i got rid of stupidly as was managerial to get 33 to the gallon out of it as a daily and a FL1 td4 which had the annoying habit of the German bits not talking to the British bits which sort of ruined it really otherwise wasn't a bad motor
Any hoo looking forward to reading up on bits and bobs as I go along

Hi, I've registered to use as forum for hints and tips on my Land Rover Discovery 4. I've had it since it was a year old and it has taken me and my family many happy miles. Based in South Norfolk, and love the car!
