Had my 4.4 for just over a week now and I'm really liking it, the P38 may have to go as this is so much better

Scotland 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Manual Adriatic BlueDiscovery 3

Hi everyone.

Current proud owner of Disco 3 '06 TD manual box.

Have been through 5 previous landy's incl. series III, Defender V8 and a couple of sorely beaten and abused Disco's, in Scotland and South Africa. It's gonna be fun trying to track down the years and models of them all, lots of good memorys!

Intending to keep this one in good nick and for another 200,000 miles minimum.

Hello; new D3 owner

Hi there,
I'm a new owner to a Disco 3, 07 plate, with 136k on the clock. It's been a needs must purchase due to a new / different school run my wife has to do. Up a 1 in 4 in Ramsbottom.
The whole experience is rather emotional - never thought I'd be able to have another Landrover - used to have a C reg petrol 90 - but prices have dropped enough, so we've waded in - it doesn't drive like a Landrover - that's been a bit of a shock really. Used to be in Yorkshire Rover Owners club and enjoyed RTV's, so we'll have to see what the future holds. With 6 of us in the family we do need the space / seats, and it's a nice replacement for our Ford Galaxy 05 plate Tdi (115) with 175k on it, which I will miss - lovely driver still.
We're still in the hand over phase with garage after the engine management light was on when I test drove it, paid and took it home. They're saying it is the EGR valves so they're doing that work - I expect they're replacing, rather than blanking off - I will ask what they did when it's done. Of course, I'm happy to be here and learn. I'm a mechanical engineer (design office) by trade and not opposed to a bit of spannering, I just have very little time and appreciate there'll be learning curve to working on one of these.
Best regards,
Charles

New on the forum

Hi all!

Thanks for the membership, I have owned my 2016 LR4 Discovery with 60k on the clocks for almost 5 days now, still everything works good. I have wanted a LR or RR for many years, and now was the time Smile Found out that the life is to short to have boring cars Very Happy. Sold a norwegian-sold Triumph TR4A IRS this spring. I had it for 20 years. Also rides motorbikes, and of cus there is a Triumph Thunderbird Sport in my garage among other bikes.

Cheers

Hi just bought a Disco 4 Landmark

Hi all just joined the Disco 4 club and looking for your support! was directed to your site as a great place to find answers. Was advised not to use the auto hand break but have been using this on a RR Sport with no issues? Do you need to use the hand break all the time or just place in park? saw a conversation on the pre heater is this forum so was also wondering if this is automatic in the Disco 4?

Welcome. Probably better to ask your questions in a dedicated thread on one of the forums.

I use the EPB every time I park the vehicle. Nothing to it, works great. It’s one of those “use it or lose it” kind of things. Thumbs Up

Just joined group and looking for some advice on best way to spec up my 2006 disco. Love the car but would love to upgrade wheels and tyres to something new, car is standard at the moment. Live in a rural area so would like a more rugged look for car

Hello

Hi Everybody.

I have an off-road modified D2 as my weekend toy at the moment but am wanting to upgrade to an early model year D3 in the near future to get a little more comfort on those longer drives! I'm hoping to soak up as much as I can from the forums to help me make a better choice when I eventually make the move.

Cheers,
Graeme

Hi Guys

Just putting my head above the parapet as I'm an interloper from the RRSPORT forum, but as your forum has a wealth of knowledge, I thought I would sneak in Whistle & get some good info. Although my off roading at most is climbing a pavement Rolling with laughter I did do an experience day & was astonished at the capability of these cars Thumbs Up

United Kingdom

Afternoon all, it's a bit moist here in North Nottinghamshire at the moment.
I've just ventured across from the ffrr site for a bit of advice.
I'm thinking of getting rid of the 322, she's been a fantastic vehicle, very reliable.
I'm not sure wether to go for a 405, or a D4.
To be honest I've heard some horror stories about both, especially the 3 ltr diesel chewing it's crank. Crying or Very sad
Is this a very common occurrence?
I had a D3 for a few years, and it was a fine motor.
What do I need to look out for if I go down the D4 route?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
