Hi everyone, just to introduce myself, I have had a lot of Land Rovers over the years including several Defenders, 300TDI and Td5 Discovery Commercials. I work in agricultural machinery business and use them for towing 3500kg trailers all over the country (and a few green laning tours) 2 years ago, my 320k td5 needed replacing (chassis rot) and I ended up buying an Isuzu pickup as it was local and seemed closest in terms of ability and also useful being a pickup. It has served me well but it not a Land Rover and is no where near as capable as the Discovery Td5 and has cost me just as much money in repairs despite Japanese ‘reliability’
I have wanted a D3 since they came out and I’m finally in a position to afford to buy one. I’m currently looking for an early pre 2006 manual, preferably S spec and have looked at several absolute heaps over the last month to the point of making me consider another TD5. Looking to spend £4500 ish, I do most of my own repairs. From reading this forum, I’m looking for;
When cambelt and pump belt changed, epb in good working order, modified oil pump housing, cross over pipe and egr valve problems, terrain response and suspension working, knocking suspension arms etc......Is there anything else I should look for? Am I mad aiming for a D3 at this money or would I be better sticking with D2? High miles don’t scare me if well maintained. Would a 5 seat coiler meet my needs or would it be a disappointment? Concerned about lack of ground clearance compared to beam axled D2 and lack of self leveling. I really want a D3 having driven a few now but avoiding bankruptcy is also a priority! Thanks in advance, Julian

Auto gearbox
Hi Team,
Hope you are doing well.
I bought my Disco 3 November 2019 from UK and I'm currently facing an issue which started after the car was grounded for 1 month at the border for taxes. the problem is that is starting very well and there is no fault ,no alarm displayed but when shifting the lever gear from P to D or R, is displaying on dash screen but the car is not moving and this happen several times. when by chance driving everything is fine and smoothly changing gears but once you park it for more than 5 days , the same issue comes up. As for now it has stuck, not moving and no alarm displayed as I said I'm able to select gear (seen )on the screen and seems like the engine loosing power when pressing the accelerator in D or R position. Kindly does anyone can advise what should be the cause and assist me please.
Thank you

Introduction
Hello to all, My name's Danny. I'm not yet a disco owner but I'm actively looking. I've read a lot on here over the years and am so impressed with not only the depth of knowledge but also how freely members are willing to share and help each other, a true cut above.
I'm looking forward to taking these first steps into ownership, most likely a good 3 or lower spec 4.
Looking forward to jumping in and getting involved, many thanks.
Danny.

New Disco 3 owner,
brought as a cheap project. Currently working through some of its issues. but loving owning one.
Anyone local to Nuneaton with the IID tool or recommend somewhere to have the height re-calibrated after a sensor swap.
also any tips on doing the timing belt, I am a mechanic but HGV mechanic not really worked alot on the old Landys in my time. so any advise tips etc would be appreciated.

Hello All,
As my partner & I are expecting child number 4 we needed to buy a 7 seater..... there was no way I was buying an MPV so that left us with a choice of SUV's
We originally went to try an Audi Q7 which was fine, if a little uninspiring. At the same dealer was an 11 plate Disco HSE with only 34k miles from new for a similar price, so we test drove that too....
The Children & Mrs loved it, however it showed serious signs of water ingress (water marked & mouldy carpets)
We walked away and started the search for a nicer condition Disco.. we happened across a 13 plate HSE Lux with 74k miles, full landrover history for a very good price..
My son told me i "need" to buy it!
After some negotiations with the salesman I bought it after he had agreed to include 12 months MOT, service, timing belts & 12 month platinum RAC warranty.
So here we are!
As my everyday car I have a brand new Nissan Navara N-Guard, so the Disco will not be subject to tip runs and general abuse!

just bought a used 07 Disco 3
Hi Group,
i was offered the chance to buy a 07 Disco 3 at a fairly decent price and i found this forum when i was invetigating running/repair costs.
Looking forward to collecting my new car in the next couple of days it drives lovely and looks the bees knees.
Second LR i have owned - first being a very old Series 2 (i think) truck cab 90 that was held together by rust and good fortune.
Guess by the .co.uk ending to the website this is predominatley a UK group so i was wondering if i get the distinction of being the forums first Fakland Islands based member?
Cheers
Steve
