Hello, Green oval lovers,
having had various Land Rovers since the 70's and currently
running a MY2008 Freelander 2, since 2016,
I'm now trying to resist the urge to run a Discovery 3
now I know many on the Freel2 site will say "NO" but
having mooched around here for a few weeks it appears most
of you are very happy with your D3's,
so for now I'll glean more information on here
and at some point make my decision.
Dave

Welcome Dave. I moved up from 8 years of 2009 FL2 ownership to a 2005 D3...
I held the FL2 for a couple of years whilst I got used to the D3 in terms of maintenance. I needed a daily driver and the FL2 I kept as a backup for when (not if!) The D3 was randomly off the road. Both are brilliant and both serve different purposes. When trading up you'll notice the massively improved space inside the cabin - they are two widely different cars when it comes to passenger comfort and boot space. I also much prefer the driving position of the D3, it feels more upright with more glass and a superb view of the road.
There is nothing I'd swap back to the FL2 for (it has now sold), perhaps other than fuel economy.
Buy a D3 that is well looked after (mine wasn't and needed lots of fettling, but is now like new in the most part). Keep it well and you'll never look back! 2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...
2014 BMW 435d convertible. Bought July 2021. 58,000 miles and counting...
2005 Discovery 3 HSE Auto. Bought Feb 2019. 169,000 miles and counting...
2009 Freelander 2 XS Manual. Bought Sep 2013. SOLD Aug 2021 (already regretted!)

Hi all!
Thank you foor adding me on this site.
I recently bought a used Disco4, 3 liter diesel. It's my 6th landrover. Before I drove 2 90's, a 109, a Freelander and a 110.
Now I'm a little bit older and more mony to spend, a comfortable Disco is our new vehicle for new tot discover travels on our vacantions.
Cheers Frits

Evening all,
So this morning I decided (against my greater judgment) to take the plunge and purchase myself a Gunmetal Grey 2011 D4 HSE. Car has 130k miles, but in the last 30k has had the manifolds done, boot release, brakes, suspension arms, suspension bushes, and 10k ago the belts. Drives like a dream, air suspension seems good, paid £12k. I'm aware it's going to cost me money, but I'm happy to do that as I've not spent £40-45k on a second hand Disco 5, so there's some money to take the slack.
Now, I'd like to do some upgrades to it. First will be tinting rear windows (why you wouldn't tick that option I've no idea), but I would also like to ask what upgrades have people done that are worthwhile - pics please if possible? Is there an upgrade that can be done to get Android Auto on the Infotainment screen - I seem to remember something where you wire into Sat Nav or something? Also, rear tyres need doing - has pretty new Pirelli Scorpions on the front but cheapies on the back - are the Scorpions the best to use?
Anyway, glad to be part of the forum!

Evening All, just a quick hello as I’m new to the group.
I’m now the proud owner of KW04UKK, it’s a press launch Disco3, used at the media launch in Scotland.
You may have seen it in last months LRO magazine, I’ve taken on custodianship from Luke Petch.
I’m based near Basingstoke/Reading.
I’m sure I’ll have a few questions along the way and look forward to meeting other members.
Have a good evening, Simon

Hello Disco3 owners,
New to the forum but not to Rovers. Moved from a 2000 D2 to a 2008 D3. At 120,000 miles and not immune to the standard maladies, so maintenance has become a priority. Early on changed the diff fluids, brakes at all 4 corners and rebuilt the EAS compressor and valve blocks. Recently replaced front struts, rear drive shaft and transmission filter.

Hi to all
I've been a member for a while but not posted before. Decided a D3 is to be my next Land Rover, it was one of these or a 3.6 L322 tdv8. I've been trying to make up my mind for a while now as I knew my last D2 was dying and was sold for parts yesterday. No longer as young as I used to be so the series has also recently been sold, so now is the first time I am Land Rover less in 26 years! That needs fixing pretty damn quick

Greetings mate.
I've been checking your post. And unfortunately I am also in the same situation. What differs for me is that I own a Tdv8 RRS and have recently changed the 2 turbos. And I've been with the happy error code p132e22 for almost 2 years. Little by little we have been advancing in the definitive solution.
But we've already tried everything. To the point of removing and putting the turbos 4 times, without removing the body or anything. Intercooler hoses, suction hoses, maf sensors, clean map sensors (I will try the solution that the colleague comments to install a new one).
My case is very similar if not identical. I erase the code p132e22 and start the engine. Normally the engine is heard and accelerates like new just up to 30 seconds. Once this time interval has elapsed, the fault appears on the display and the sound changes to low with the corresponding lack of power.
The connectors are checked, the hoses too (unless some sleeve has a very small pore and is invisible to the eye). The pressure and outlet pipes of the intercooler are changed new. New metal clamps.
The only thing we see in the machine is that the air sensor (MAF) sucks half when disconnecting that turbo. As long as it works fine. Both MAF sensors register the same values.
I have checked the 2 turbos for machine flow and actuator opening and both are identified. And even so, the fault keeps popping up.
I have also checked the egr valves and they both work properly. But by assuming that perhaps some should not close completely and cause the problem. I have canceled them mechanically. But the error keeps popping up.
New diesel filter. etc etc...
The data you mention is also familiar to me ... I also accelerate and at idle my turbo opening data stays at 0.1%
