Hello everyone,
Been lurking here for a while. Also a member of Defender2 and Freel2.
The Defender will be going soon followed by the Freelander and then looking to get my first Discovery. Probably be a 4 so any top tips most welcome.
Going to have a good look around here to look for a buying guide, what to look out for, servicing etc.
Cheers,
Jason

Hi Jason
Hope you enjoy your Discovery 4 when you get it, much more comfortable than the Defender and every bit as capable.

Hello!
Picking up a MY12 Disco 4 HSE on Friday, lokking forward to it imensly!
It's from a non LR dealer, so just need to weigh-up where to get warranty from - their own vs warranty direct or similar. Bit nervous of the crankshaft failure - hoping it's the usual disproportional internet effect!
Any advice/hints/tips welcome!
1st job is to get rear windows tinted, as I think it will help with looks and security. Any advice on what level of tint - want it factory looking from that perspective.

15-20% looks factory fitted.
any more (limo) looks silly and any less doesn't do what you want.
just had mine done and everyone assumed it came as standard

Thanks - appreciate that.
- definitely want the factory look, which imho is plenty dark enough.

Dash carcam for Disco 4
Hi Martin I have joined this forum to try & find out if anyone has fitted a dash carcam to their Dicovery 4 as I am aware of the large sensor unit in the middle of the windscreen. Lookers at Chipperfield said someone on this forum should be able to help. I want to asked Father Christmas for this item as a present this year but Lookers said they had no Elfs available to help me! Gregory Farrell

Hi Gregory
I joined this forum about two weeks ago when I bought my Discovery 4, I have already found it invaluable.
One of the first jobs I did was to fit my dash cam, very easy to do, I fitted a Mini 0806 very small, works great and can hardly be seen from outside the car. I do not live very far from you so if you wanted to see it just let me know.
P.S I have been told on other forums that its not a good idea to have your email address on display, you may want to consider changing it.

HEllo from Norway.
Currently have a D2 V8 with nearly 190000miles on the clock. Looking at replacing it with a D3
or RRS. Wife prefers RRS, I think D3 is better value and more car for the money. Unfortunately
being in Norway there aren't a lot of D3s or RRS for sale, so it is taking time to find one, and most of
the ones I find are at the opposite end or side of the country to me. Bit like living inplymouth and
going to Inverness to look at a car.

Qcnr, it sounds like you’re located away from Oslo, and I’d guess less traffic, so does it matter to you if the steering wheel is on the wrong side? Why not pop over to the UK where you’d have a lot of choice to pick one up.

Import duty , and yes steering wheel on the wrong side is not very ideal.
Especially as my wife will be using the car most of the time.
