Hi all
As i was driving disco 3, it was bumped on by someone from the back going underneath. Upon starting the Engine after incident i realised a big white smoke and later when tested something blast/noise in the engine and it never started again thereafter. What could have the impact done to the vehicle to behave this way?

Hi just about to dip my toes into a disco 3 2005 model (cheaper tax) I've owned a RR Sport an evoque and a X5 oh and a Touareg, but buying a disco 3 tomorrow any Tips? Also and major things I neeed to look out for ? Thanks Neil

Hi all,
It looks like I’m moving from the dark side of the force, as I have seen the light.
Seriously considering the purchase of a Discovery 3 commercial, manual as a replacement to a Nissan Patrol Y61 SWB 2.8TD, for several reasons; spares, size, comfort and significantly newer.
Why commercial and Manual gearbox? It/She needs to capable of hauling significant amounts of photographic equipment around Salisbury Plain Training Area, as well as Continual Europe. Manual – because I’m a control freak! 
I hope to gain friendly advice and knowledge from those who know more about the Discover 3/4 than I currently do, and in turn if my knowledge on some other topic can help a fellow forum user then all is good.

Hi all I have just bought a nice clean disco 3 05 model with only 2 previous owners from new came with a load of receipts totalling almost £4000 in the last couple of years one receipt for just over a £1000 for new clutch but now have found that it is slipping when pushed hard in third gear but their is only 8500 miles on the car since clutch was replaced my question is was the clutch not fitted properly before or is there a way to adjust it to stop this? Any ideas welcome thanks

Hi,
I have owned my Disco 3 since December 2014, love the car but not too happy about the problems, rear tailgate again, third time and dealers want another £90 to supply the whole lamp assembly.
My car had one previous owner and came with 26 pages of service history and 115000 and now showing 136000 miles on the clock and just passed the MOT.
If anybody has a good remedy for the tailgate I would be grateful for any advice.

Hi All,
I've decided to register on DISCO4.COM as I'd like to help by sharing my experiences while repairing these troublesome vehicles. I have owned my own auto repair business for 30 years now and I've seen some big changes in vehicles since I started in the motor trade in the very early 1980's.
My main bug bear nowadays is the " just fit a new one !!" mentality. I will always try to see if there's a way of repairing an expensive component before replacing.
I find searching the internet for answers a very good and quick way of discovering a cause for a particular fault. People sharing their experiences is beneficial to all.
I look forward to helping as I've been helped already on this website.

Hello All,
Let me now officially present myself.
I am Nick, and I have just bought a D3 tdv6 HSE in grey.
I had the possibility to buy a 2008 D3 with a dead engine approximately 1 month ago, but I couldn't agree to a price with the seller. I have now made them a very good offer (for me) and they have now accepted.
I have also found a chap that will repair/refurbish/replace the engine whatever is necessary for a good price. He works well, but as he is actually retired, he takes a while to get things done.
My background... I had a D2 (I am a member of the D2BC site) for quite a few years, and did a faire amount of repairs on it myself, but I by no means am a mechanic, but I love to try.
I currently have a 2003 L322 Td6 (my wife fell in love with it), a 2008 L320 TDv6 (my daily driver), and now the L319.
I am going to be collecting it the next few weeks, and will then be checking exactly what is wrong with the engine, and getting it fixed.
I know the previous (on original) owner, and I know that they have never been offroad, have never towed with it. I also know that ALL services were done by the LR dealer. Not sure if this is a good thing, but at least I know the services were all done!!
I will post some photos when I get it!!

Hello everyone,
Just came across this forum when looking to solve a sunroof problem on a Disco 3 i am going to look at tomorrow as the owner said it doesnt work.
What a pleasant surprise to see the community spirit where one person had a problem and posted, the next was the solution which helped many more !
Can anyone advise on what common faults or problems i should be looking for when viewing? i know its last minute but it never crossed my mind to join a owners site until now.
Oh, and the cruise control doesnt work apparently.
its a 2005 HSE with 130k on it
