Should be OK at that mileage if it's been looked after, not even run in yet. Check fuse for electric handbrake as is the same for cruise control, number 26 if I remember correctly in engine compartment.
As for common problems and faults, where to start? lets say they have their fair share but there is most times someone on here to assist if they can. A good knowledgeable bunch I'd call them.

Newbie from the D2 boys club
Hi Folks
The name is Dusty. I've come over from the D2 boys club having owned a D2 for 4 years. I would have kept her for ever but unfortunately the tin worm got the better of her. I decided to take the plunge and bought a 54 plate d3 ... Pretty standard no frills in fairly good raft had plenty done to her in the past. I made the decision to buy a warranty to cover the cost of repairs as and when.
Looking forward to mingling..
Dusty

I don't know yet!!
All that I know is that they were driving on the motorway and suddenly lost all power.
They had the D3 towed to a garage, and the chap said he would offer then €3800 for the car, or make them an offer to get it repaired.
That was in September 2017. They still haven't received the quote!!
I THINK that it is probably the tensioner that bolts to the oil pump that has failed.
I have spoken to a good mechanic, and he has said that he can repair it.
I am going to collect it in the next few weeks, and then am going to check the timing belt to see if it is that.
If it isn't that, then it could be the sleeves.
What-ever it is, I will get it repaired, and should then have a very nice D3!!

Hello
Glad to be a part of this site. Have owned Lucy, my 2005 LR3 HSE (HD) since January 2017. Started with 143k miles, now has 158k. It was not starting or driving when I bought it. Had to trailer it and work on it for a few weeks before it was road worthy. Still working out bugs on this thing. So far I have:
Changed all fluids, some more than once - Engine oil, diffs, transfer case, transmission (changed with Brit part pan and filter)
Intake air filter and cabin air filter
New Mass Air Flow Sensor
New O2 Sensors
Replaced rear locking diff, that one died too after 10k miles, so rebuilt it with new bearings and seals
Replaced hood (bonnet) struts
Fixed fuel tank latch
Replaced driver's door window master switch
Replaced passenger door subwoofer speaker
Reinstalled software and fixed non-working navigation system
Replaced front lower control arms
Replaced tie rods
Replaced rear sway bar bushings
Replaced both front air struts
Replaced coolant overflow reservoir bottle
Replaced EGR Valve
New Interstate Battery
Replaced alternator
Updated transmission ECM software (fixed California stop delay)
New EBC Sport Rotors on front brakes
Replaced front and rear brake sensors
Bypassed bonnet latch alarm
And cleaned the heck out if. I think previous owners camped and fished with it and never cleaned a thing and just drove it until it stopped working.
Problems left to fix -
One rear door latch doesn't work
Only one key opens the doors. Changing the battery and reprogramming it with my Gap Tool didn't fix it.
Replace all coolant hoses (they are old and they are starting to leak a bit)
Fix Transmission Fault - HDC Fault. Codes are as follows:
Rear Diff:
P0713-00 (2F) Transmission fluid temperature sensor A - circuit high input
I just ordered a new rear diff oil temp sensor
Transfer Case:
P1807-00 (2F) Four-wheel drive high ratio - short circuit to ground
This is the one I'm worried about. I think someone on this forum found the ground fault in a wiring connection but had to take apart a lot of the vehicle to get to it. Doesn't look like fun.
Driver's seat heater doesn't work
And last, it has the ghost mirrors. When reversing, the mirrors rotate to the ground, but then come back up to some random position.
Hoping I can find the rest of the answer somewhere in this forum. Cheers. Jon

Hi I'm Nick from East Yorkshire, thanks for allowing me to join your site. I have a LR Discovery 3 2005 2.7tdi manual in silver which I purchased about a year ago after viewing several well worn ones! I have gone right through the vehicle and spent quite a lot of money replacing parts. I very much look forward to being part of the community-thanks again.

Hi
Hi, recently picked up a 2005 D3 HSE - my first LR. It's the TDV6 Auto, and I'm looking forward to using it as my new ski/camping/MTB wagon!

Greetings from a past owner who is now a current owner!
Hi there - having sadly said goodbye to my blue Discovery 3 SE (OE5.....U) back in 2008 (and then watched the foot of snow that arrived in the next few days!!!). I have just bought a 09 discovery 3 HSE which I hope to pick up in the next few days. Nice to be back and looking forward to lots of fun after I have taken the car to James French to get them to check it over. Hi everyone!

Welcome to all the newbies! King of the typo.
MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!
Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Hello,
I've visited this forum many time over the years as a guest, but as I'm getting a few niggling issues with my '05 D3 HSE automatic I felt now would be a good time to join and learn a bit more about how to keep it going.
Have owned the car for almost 8 years and still love it. I'm a bit limited when it comes to knowledge of mechanical things, but I like to do what I can. I also have a '68 Triumph TR5, which is pretty easy to maintain in comparison with the Landy.
Cheers, Darren

Help Needed!
Hi
Looking to buy a D3 to turn into a one man expedition/ camping vehicle to support off grid mountain biking jaunts. The D3 seems to offer the optimum mix of space v price to leave some budget to do the conversion. Seriously fancy the V8 with an LPG conversion.
Help needed to try and debunk the mates who tell me that this age of Discovery is nothing but a money pit ~ and to get pointers on how to buy well.
Also - any one managed to turn one into a one man camper - seems to me that you can easily sleep in the back of one with the seats down and leave room for sink, fridge and kitchen module? Add an awning, solar plus a few bits and bobs and I hope to be able to live off grid for a week or so. Any pointers welcome!
