United Kingdom 2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XS Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 4

Hi,
Seems a good day to be joining the forum, have just taken my Discovery 4 out and picked up a family who wanted to come and view our lab pups, have to say without it would have not made it home. I’m a new owner having recently sold my Defender 110, still hurts but I’m getting there.
Does anybody know of a good independent LR specialist near Taunton, the guy I used is not that good with the newer technology. Thanks

Hi everyone :)

After owning a D1 300tdi for many years and before that a V8 I decided it's time to move with the times and embrace electronics! (I am a software developer by trade after all!)

So I am now the proud owner of a lovely Disco 3.

I'm already lining the jobs up but my initial ones...

Work out how to get a CHEAP additional key as I only have the one
Get my phone to stay paired
Get the heated front screen working
Replace the cracked SatNav screen Sad
Fit its very first towbar

Hey from a frightened newbie!

Hey guys - been having a browse around the forum and found a wealth of knowledge from a vast range of people on here.

I entered into 4x4 world about 4 years ago buying a D22 Navara and before anything, I did the engine MOD before it had chance to chuck its guts. Ive found that it is sadly now coming to the end of its life and being a bit bored of it, I've been looking to get something a bit nicer but still very capable off-road. I love the Disco 3 and had the chance to sit in one a few weeks ago. I haven't driven one yet but Ill be honest I dont think I'm going to need to.

My concerns are what I buy into and the problems I can expect. Should I be looking for something in particular when looking for one and are there models to avoid?

I was at a garage today and one of the mechanics basically told me to stay Japanese and get something newer. Im not sure what to do really and I would be really appreciative of some experienced advice.

Hope you guys dont mind me posting! Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Hello

Hi,

New here, I have a D4, it's had a few issues, threw an alternator last year, tie bars and relative suspension bits this year and a battery, low mileage, looks like front end suspension issues soon to come, all in the joys of owning a landy. Rolling Eyes

Had a D3, range rover sport v6 and v8, several D2, 90s, 110s, series landys.

Thanks for accepting me on the forum.

Hello all,

Returning to the fold after a trip to the dark side (BMW X3) and a Disco Sport which was traded in for a 2016 Disco 4 Graphite.
How on earth did I manage without a heated steering wheel!

It’s refreshing reading the posts on here... the Disco Sport forum is full of doom and gloom.
Having said that I had no problems, it just wasn’t a real Disco.

Good to be back! Thumbs Up

Hi all

Just picked up a disco 3 05 plate.

Need a smart car for work and could find a reasonable priced landcruiser.

This will mainly be a roadish car as I have a 80 series for my toy

Based just outside Bristol so would be good if people are close to share there owner stories

Regards Stu

Wheel bearing kit bolts

Hi all,

I'm the very happy owner of a Disco 3 since last month Smile
I love fixing things and doing the mecanics on my cars.

I just changed the front wheels bearings (bought a wheel bearing kit).
unfortunately, one of the bolts broke-up when I unscrewed it.

I managed to finish the job and mount the new kit, but with only 3 bolts out of 4.

Do you know where I can buy one (this is a 15 metric bolt, pretty long).

Thanks for your help !
Philippe

Ukraine 2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial XS Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Hi There,

I've been a member for a little over a year now, so firstly sincere apologises for not making contact sooner!
I live in the far south west of Ireland, in a remote area where you have to learn to do things yourself. Its 100 mile round trip to the nearest LR dealer, so DISCO.CO.UK has been an absolute life saver in keeping my Disco hale and hearty. A very big thank you to all contributors for the incredible repository of information available. Well done on an absolutely fantastic site.

As I'm here can I ask if anyone has fitted a reverse camera and monitor from scratch to a D3? My D3 is a commercial and does not have a factory monitor. So I'm looking to fit a rear "wired" camera that can see the tow hitch, and a monitor that will fill the dash space of the factory unit. I have seen the cam that fits into the number plate lamp, but don't know if it can see the tow hitch! Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

newbie in need of advice

HelloAll from south wales , ive been lurking the forum for a few years whenever ive had a problem and found the results with ease and you all seem a freindly bunch Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
so , the last problem was the tourque converter which i had fitted from a reputable company named on here many times . They did advise when they test drove that it's a tiny bit slow on occasions changing down but nothing significant . On inspection they said there is slight waer on the splines , nothing too drastic . I had the car back last week and it was fab , none of the vibrating , it was lovely to drive , like when i bought it . Four days later and i have a slight woo hoo ( please dont laugh)when in park , when i select a gear its slightly louder and when reved it increses in line with the rev range , as it does when driven .You can hardly hear it from cold but it gets worse as the car warms up . I know a few garages , ive popped in to two , and asked a friend who works with buses and they have advised first opinion would be a noisy torque converter . Would they be correct in advising that the is the only thing spinning within the gearbox on tick over ?
Or is there anything around that area which could make a simular noise from the engine ?
i'm after some advice prior to my taking the car back to the garage ,and looking like a fool as its not a rogue torque converter ?
thanks for your help in advance

wayne
