Issues

Having an issue with my FBH. It starts up with the BAS remote without a problem but wont continue to run

I get the lovely smell but it just peters out.

Can I spray some cleaner into the air intake pipe or is that not advisable ??

Maybe a stupid question from me, but are you sure its not running?

Mine doesn't smoke (maybe a little when it first starts) , makes little noise but I can tell by the speed the temperature dial advances upwards (and can feel the exhaust gas under the car if I can be bothered to crawl on the floor)

I have no controller on mine, all bog standard

With bonnet open you can feel if it's running by touching unit but don't actually touch the exhaust!

Lots on here about non-starting FBHs.

Ideally you need the diagnostic on it to see why it's failing to start.

Might be sooted up and you might make progress with encouraging the flame similar to this: https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/fbh-cutting-156334.html

It starts to run as the burner gets warm but then definitely stops after around a minute.
When it runs for the first minute you can feel the air being sucked in through the intake which is why i thought maybe i could spray a cleaner into it ?

I have/had similar symptoms last year on my wifes D3 with Altox linked FBH. Its stsrts for 60 seconds smokes a bit then cuts out. I tried (as posted here) to clean it with an extended forced induction with all sorts of cleaner sprayed in but in the end I gave up as it seems to be past an easy cleaning/repair. It needs taken off and reconditioning or replacing.

Thanks Martin, what are your thoughts on spraying an air intake cleaner into the intake pipe ?

Not done it so can't advise; have a read of the other threads where people have done it.
