Went to Boulogne for a couple of bottles of wine...

...and came back with 600.

I'm sure I didn't leave it in access mode when I parked...

The Disco handled it all with ease. A little 'imprecise' in corners, and if I stuck at 90 for too long the cooling fan kicked in and became very noisy, but other than that it was a day of care free motoring.

Is there anything this car can't do brilliantly?

Bottle of washer fluid. The low washer fluid bong was driving me mad all the way down to Folkestone, every time I went up a slight incline Sad

bcb U missed a space for more vino, the front passanger seat!!! I'm sure Mrs BCB would not have minded getting public transport back, it would have been for a good cause!

I used to do an annual booze run to France but gave it up for the sake of my liver. Unfortunately it now gets regular doses of Spar plonk as there is never anything good in the cellar! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Verry good...
But what a waste of Roof Space !!

Exactly how many boxes of wine can you get in a D3. I was thinking of going over in the summer.
perhaps we should arrange a D3 booze cruise !!

How many bottles can you get in a D3

There are 96 cases of wine (and 7 bottles of malt whisky) in the picture, three layers of cases across the whole load space. Had I not had a passenger with me (not mrs bcb, no such person exists!), I might have loaded up the front seat with another 10 cases of wine, and now I know just how well the car handled the weight, I wouldn't have worried much about making it 4 cases deep across the whole load space. That would be about 140 cases or 840 bottles in total.

Bear in mind though, that this would weigh nearly a tonne, and puts you well over the maximum gross weight in the handbook. If this breaks your suspension, gets you in trouble with the traffic police, or with customs, or causes a divorce, please don't blame me Wink

Oh, and you might want to research what 42psi is in 'foreign'. The French air pumps only know about bars.

bkehoe: I didn't know about the sand driving trip until I got back from France... I'm not sure I could have combined the trips anyway, as my co-conspiritor was in dire straits (down to his last bottle of red). I guess I'll just have to make May my beer run Whistle

IIRC this information is displayed in PSI and bars on a sticker on the inside of the drivers door just below the lock.

Now cut out all 'this Wine stuff'!!
The Important questions are:-
Why only 7 bottles of Malt?
What type was it?
[notice 'past tense' - assuming it has all gone]

You got me there, that was a mistake. The malts will be history before I've made a dent in the wine mountain Laughing Just as well I'm going back at the beginning of May! I picked up:
Tamnavulin
Lagavulin
Highland Park
Glenkinchie
and a Dufftown that, against all the odds, was a real bargain at the train terminal at Calais. A couple of those were duplicated, for the co-driver.

So a reasonable tour of Scotland in that lot? Highland, Lowland, Islay and 2 Speysides.
