West coast of Scotland, much to do?

I have booked a holiday in Oban for Easter, family going diving, then up to Fort William for a few days, is there much to do or is it just full of incoherent mad drunk violent jocks? Laughing

Any help appreciated Thumbs Up

Oh! and are the flees around at that time? Wink

Yep, everyone's rolling drunk and the Midgies are out in squadron strength. Be advised that shooting drones down is a national pastime. Whistle

Inverness is a good place to visit Pete - Lovely drive from Fort William too but then most places in that part of the world are pretty spectacular. There's a Nessie museum at the southern end on Loch Ness very close to Drumnadrochit. I'm guessing the kids would love that Smile

Fort William has a nice restaurant that protrudes out onto the water there on the left, just before you turn right into the town centre. Can't remember the name but the fish is fantastic Thumbs Up

Have a great time

Note to self - get back up there soon

In my experience - it is a very friendly place to visit. Most people are very accomodating barring the odd teenager with attitude but then, they are rife everywhere in the UK. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

At Oban try rafting down river Awe also visit Cruachan hydro power station underground in mountain at Loch Awe.
If you have the time take the ferry to Mull from Oban.
Fort William bike hit available and you can use the ski gondola to go up and cycle down the mountain bike downhill course.

Road to Mallaig now very good and maybe not the time of year but great beaches at Morar and Arasaig.

Don't get the kids to active we wouldn't want them losing to much weight Whistle

Thanks for all the replies, great stuff Thumbs Up

We know Inverness as we fly there to go to The Carnegie Club, Skibo Castle. Re getting the ferry to Mull, do you take your car or walk and is there anything to see there other than haggis walking around hills, e.g. Are there any gadget shops there ? Very Happy

Seems we will be safe from the flees, kids live rock climbing so after diving I am organising a day ice climbing, should be fun.

Nessie museum is now on the list, thanks for that, will try the restaurant over the water and be ready for any rogue teenage jocks that have attitude Laughing

When I was younger I took a kayak from Fort William to Inverness, a tiring but enjoyable trip, I just remember how rough Loch Ness was, never had time to sightsee so returning for a good look around.

Thanks to all, any more ideas welcome Thumbs Up
