Good result.
Indeed, I got streptococcus A+++ instead so it’s been a fun week until the antibiotics kicked in.

Motorways to trial 60mph limits to cut pollution
I see the M602 "between junctions 1 and 3" (which is all of it, so why pretend otherwise ?) is to be part of the trial.
It doesn't currently have speed cameras so it's not enforceable.
and it has only 2 "modes" ... as-fast-as-you-like and parked.
for about 3 hours on a morning, the Salford end is a slow moving carpark as traffic causes a bottle-neck at the roundabout, queueing a mile back up the motorway.
and in the afternoon, it's a carpark for cars attempting to join the clock-wise M60 at Eccles.
Pollution levels would be better dealt with by improving traffic flow rather than "slowing it down to 60" ... when it's doing sub-5mph anyway.
[/rant]
Same with the M6 and M5 section (although enforceable) its either working or it isnt.
Dont get speed limits for pollution, drive at 50 in 3rd or 50 in 8th - but assuming you can do 60 in those sections too. So silly, sums up this govMike

f'in covid lockdowns
So from tomorow my local borough is imposing lockdown, so no-one is supposed to meet up with anyone from another houseold in their home or garden.
But, I can still go shopping, to a restraunt or the pub, use public transport, but not suppossed to visit my 87 yr old mum and take her food, check she's OK
F'in stupid as I'm more likely to bump into someone carrying the virus in any of those locations (and I haven't and won't be going to the pub or restraunts or using public transpirt)

Al, visiting your Mum isn't advantageous to the economy. I think the virus only strikes when people aren't spending money. That seem to be how it works in Government eyes.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

^^^^ I know I can, but to me thats still missing the point as there's loads of other stuff I can do where I feel I am much more likely to come into contact with a carrier, so surely its these activities that need to be curtailed to reduce the risk of transmission
I'll get off me soapbox now

Whilst we have taken a personal hit of more than £50k but have followed the guidance and legislation to the letter, other local charter operators (and holiday home renters) are blatantly ignoring all of the guidance and putting boats and homes out to multiple household groups - and have been doing so for months.
WTF is the point of everyone else trying to do their social and civic duty whilst these selfish bar stewards are simply having a bumper season?

Had a business meeting this lunch time so met colleague at local coffee shop. Usual warning signs to wear mask and use provided sanitiser, etc. Unless you don't give a obviously as about 30% didn't bother with either.
I know they say not for the business to enforce but if they were told they couldn't serve customers without a mask on I'm sure situations would improve the percentage take up......
So I'm in the queue and guy comes in, no mask, no sanitiser, touches virtually every sandwich in the chiller unit taking them off the shelf, reading then putting them back (and then has a cake anyway, daft )
Then stands hovering on my shoulder. I turn round and ask him if he wouldn't mind standing back, especially as he isn't wearing a mask (and no, I'm not paranoid about the health risk as such, just off people can't follow simple/basic rule, can only help matters....).
Then notice he has his NHS lanyard round his neck with his "Dr xxxxxx" name on it..... What a
that matches my experience walking around Manchester Royal ... staff in the main bits don't seem to give a .
the ward I mainly go to, which has a lot of highly vulnerable patients, is a different matter. I'm sure they'd steam-clean everyone entering if they could.

^^^ Put on a white coat and everyone thinks you're a doctor. Mind you, the local mammogram clinic now has a photo of me and a "do not admit this man" notice next to the door.

Many years ago my brother’s best pal at Uni was studying medicine and wore his white coat everywhere to show his ‘status’. However it backfired spectacularly in a grocer’s shop when a wee Glasgow wummin prodded him in the back and said “Hey son, where d’ye keep the biscuits in yer shop”
Does anyone else remember the days when grocers wore coats? Our wee village shop has a proprietor who steadfastly conducts business in his ‘lab coat’
