Wheel alignment with off-road tyres fitted ?

After 7000 miles on my new Scorpions with 19" rims, I've noticed a significant (to me) amount of wear on the inside edges of all 4 tyres.

As my car is going for it's 2yr service next week I asked the dealer if he could check alignment etc. etc.

The problem seems to be that the D3 will have 18"s with AT2's on when it goes for service.
(and, no, I can't easily change them unless I change to another dealer Shocked )

The dealer said he could not perform the alignment sucessfully unless I have the normal road tyres on it. (the Scorpions with 19"s)

Is this true? Does the type of wheel tyre combination affect the alignment?

I was also told the age & mileage of the D3 is outside of any warranty for alignment check and the VIN no is also outside the quoted range for the TSB that was around for some time.

Would appreciate comments.
John

Tyres may well make a difference, but I cannot see how they cannot align the wheels correctly with whatever tyre is fitted.

Surely they align the wheels and not the tyres Wink

Probably wrong though mate.

Lancasters quite happily did the wheel alignment on mine a week or so ago with the MT/R's on ( not that they ever come off ) so can't see it being a problem if the tyre size is correct?
 and theeeeennn......???

Dealer is talking Sh Censored t. Evil or Very Mad
The tread pattern does not matter, even if tyre size is slightly different as long as it is legal they can stll do an alignment.
Tell him they put MTRs on the G4s. Laughing
