Hi,
Just wondering what would you choose if you were to choose between a new D3 S spec, or a 1 year old HSE with ~10k miles? Both would be around the same approximate price.
Please comment as welll as answer the poll; I'm interested in peoples opinions.

I would want a history printed out of the HSE, but I would also want a long test of the S as many have found the seats uncomfortable DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I've sat in standard cloth 'S' seats and ones retrimmed in leather (a very nice job by a company in Dublin - don't know the name), and while the retrimmed ones seem to have slightly better support, I'm still not sure about them; just doesnt seem possible to get fully comfortable. I made a point of getting electric leather seats in my td5, as I sometimes do 5+ hr long trips, and they're great. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

my advice would be:
depends on how long you're going to keep it, go for the 1 year old if you're going to keep it for longer than 3 to 4 years as the extra spec will make it easier to live with and worth more in the longer term, go for the new S if you're fussy about colour and are gong to change it in three years or less.
it's a big wedge of cash to layout either way isn't it?? and theeeeennn......???

I was originally going for an 'S' but changed for an SE at the last minute. I would still have the SE with 10k on it - never mind the HSE!!

I'd go with the HSE if keeping for several years

It really depends on how many toys you want, do you want an auto box and are you bothered about resale values? I bought an S but added on a lot of toys and still ended up paying less than I would have done for an HSE or even a SE for that matter. I did get a good discount though I'm talking about UK spec D3s as I know there are vast differences around the globe The End

Subject to the HSE being a sound vehicle I would expect it to hold its value better in the long term and you get the very significant benefits of the higher spec. ie Zenons, Auto, leather, and sat nav. Simply adding goodies to a lower spec vehicle is a surefire way of increasing your losses.

Thanks for the comments. Both would be auto anyway (should have said). I am, for simplicity, referring to UK spec vehicles here. The models in Ireland are quite different - an Irish HSE is similar in most ways to a UK SE for example, and an Irish S is basically a UK Base 7 seater.
Is there anything on new 06 HSEs that wasnt standard on the 05 HSE? I would be thinking of importing the secondhand HSE from the UK, or else buying the new S here in Ireland, and adding on all the options to make it similar to the uk S, which end up working out at about the same price (once import tax paid on the HSE). Was logic 7 standard for all HSEs (it's not here anyway)?
Is there any way to check what software version is loaded (other than the Dealer's word)?
Thanks,

The major difference is the PTI system, cooler box and Adaptive headlights (and a price increase!) DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Curious as to whether anyone has the dealer fit PTI system and has had all the recent software updates; how well does it work? Any difference to the factory fit PTI - can you use cradles with it, or is it bluetooth only? IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

My dealer fix PTI system was fitted to my Jan 2005 car in February 2005 and only connects via BT. This provides voice control and the green and red control switches added to the steering wheel.
