i've gone through a couple of pairs of side lights so far, can't understand why but they just blow after a few months, these are standard LR ones. the car has xenon's fitted so i could do with something a little brighter than the piddly yellow looking ones that blow. i don't want the blu'ish ones due to the car being white, and i find people in front of me slowing down alot until they can see i'm not the rozzers

I replaced my sidelight and number plate lights nearly 3 years ago with these from Ultraleds They produce a good bright white light and you won't be disappointed in themClubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. I got a set a while ago from an auction site they were £3.69 incl delivery per pair, they have 4 led's per bulb, a search of such sites using the criteria I used may be useful, which was - Xenon LED SideLight Bulbs 501 LAND ROVER Discovery.
The Technical Stuff:
*Specification:4 LEDs on top of the bulb
*LED Fitment: 501/W5W Wedge (Push-in) Fitment
*Designed to Fit: All 12v cars which use the above fitment
*Power Consumption: 0.1 watts (Approx. 1/50th of a conventional filament bulb)
Only veeeeeeeeeeeeery just in Wales and well up north !!!
Thanks for detail

'You get what you pay for' is very good advice when buying LEDS.
The spec for a 501 wedge will be similar whoever makes them. Most LEDS on EBlag for example are cheap imports that will disappoint you IMHO. Better to pay a bit more for a quality product.Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. I got mine from an auction site and they do not dissapoint, in fact they are superb. It is refereshing to see fair prices than those rip off merchants that are around, I have a good selection of LED torches and LED lights in my home so I think I am entitled to an opinion. Can you explain what experience you have of using auction site LED 501's and the difference you noticed in order to come to your opinion, I can't see how someone can slag off a light they have never seen or used because it is cheaper

philhunt,
Sorry to be a pain BUT !
Do you have any pictures of your car with the side lights ON
I just want to see what the mini Xmas trees look like whilst illuminated, The reason i ask is that some bulbs have only got LED's that are on the tip of the wedge thus rendering the reflector part of the light unit itself useless !
As i can clearly see youre purchase does have the LED's dotted all around so this with good usage of said reflector should omit more lumen than a tea light in a Jam Jar ? or appear "As the ones i fitted to my pride & Joy" appeared like a tiny round dot in a dark hole

I would suggest that having a good selection of LED torches and lights in your home doesn't make you an expert when it comes to sourcing quality LEDs for D3s but yes, you are entitled to your opinion.
In my previous post I wrote "Most LEDS on EBlag for example are cheap imports that will disappoint you IMHO.". This is my opinion based on my experience and it's difficult to comprehend how that was read as me "slag(ging) off a light they have never seen or used because it is cheaper".
When you've been a site member for a couple of years you'll know that many topics, LEDs being an example, come up time and time again on here and if you cared to search the site for all the previous references to LEDs you'll no doubt find that some people have been disappointed with their purchases of poor quality LED's from EBlag amd elsewhere. Additionally, many D3 owners have told me that they've had similar experience.
I'm pleased that you think your LEDs are superb - you should post details of the seller to recommend them.Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD
