Which tyres guys?

Well, new arrival requires two front tyres....hmm! It's got Pirelli Scorpions on all round at the mo.

just whizzed it down to the local tyre gaff and got the following quotes - which shall I go for?!

255/60R18 Pirelli Scorpion (RB) 112 V @ £163 each inc VAT, balancing etc
Generals @ £120 each (inc etc)
Kumos @ £112 each (inc etc)

or Michelins @ £184!

Best to stick to Scorpions all round...... what d'you reckon? and do you think £163 sounds like a good deal? Was going to try Black Circles too - but need to decide which brand first!

Cheers

Credit crunch answer - Is the spare new? If so use a front as a spare while it is good for it (ie legal) and buy one new Scorpion... Very Happy

IMHO it would be best to stay with the same brand all the way round Thumbs Up

If you were changing all 4 i would say AT2 (based on cost and how they wear) but that is not practical for you at this stage as you are only needing a partial solution. Very Happy

Like the credit crunch answer - best go check spare - I'm pretty sure it's brand new tho and never been on vehicle.... here's hoping!!

My other half agrees with SJR and thinks we should stick to the same brand - so this might be the answer - as long as it's a Scorpion too of course!

Thumbs Up

One bit of information you haven't mentioned but might be relevant is how much tread the rest of the tyres have, if you put tyres with say 4mm and 9mm on the same axle (I know the D3 does not have axles before anyone gets clever Rolling Eyes ) then i think i have read that you can get the DSC kicking up some faults Thumbs Up

Keep the same all round until they are all ready to be replaced and then get a full set of AT2's Thumbs Up

Oh right..... the guy at the tyre place just said the rear tyres were OK but fronts were low, with one of them just legal with approx 1000 miles left on it..... If I put 2 brand new ones on the front then - this might affect the DSC??

I think you will be fine if changing both fronts, and leaving the backs, although it is better to change all 4 Confused not particularly cost effective though Neutral Thumbs Up

Yeah general grabber AT2, be careful what your tyre guy is actually offering as it might be the general UHP, which is still a very good tyre, it is more road biased Thumbs Up
